Is it just me or is the ending of New Vegas just as bad as Fallout 3 before the add-on"s. You think they would have learned from that. I love the game series of Fallout, but come on that is just not good enough...

The ending kicks all kinds of ass, dude. You actually get to see how your choices affect the various settlements this time around (just like Fallout 1 and 2), instead of a poorly done, silent mini-slideshow portion like in Fallout 3.

"Before the add-ons?" First, no I don't- I think the ending rocks.

Second, Fallout 3's ending svcked period- before and after Broken Steel.

Why do we not have an official 'Complain about Fallout New Vegas' Ending' Thread yet? I only come on these forums occasionally but it seems like there is at least one of these posts about.
Anyway I initially had the same reaction as you, then I realized that it was actually very well done and gave your actions significance. Imagine coming back to Mojave wasteland after seeing all the consequences of your actions in the epilogue and realizing that nothing in the game world had changed, because there is no way Obsidian could have put all the potential outcomes of the main quest into the game.

Expresate actually made a pretty comprehensive post about it (one that I still say should be stickied, even though Rohugh told me it would never happen!) but unfortunately, it's been buried in the later pages of the forums.

I just finished FO NV last night. I like the ending, but wished there was a bit more to it. I also liked FO3's MQ ending - especially after BS was added. I even like Oblivion's MQ ending which was reviled by many for some reason. I just take them for what they are - video game stories. Its not like I'm expecting "War and Peace" or some other literary masterpiece.

I think the OP just wants to keep playing after the ending, which after the first DLC you will. So start again and wait for the DLC before starting the final sequence of quests.

No reason to assume that.

ok yes you are right the ending its self if not bad and its ends the story very nicely, however it would be nice to be able to keep on playing and not have to go back to a saved point before you started on to the Dam. Its [censored] that we have to wait until the first ad on .

Why the heck do people think the first DLC will have freeplay after the end? They've said absolutely nothing about that, and they've outright said "we know about Broken Steel, but we want a final ending anyway because of the far reaching consequences in our end."

And really, it's not like the ending comes out of nowhere or anything. There's a nice big message box that warns you.

The game has four different endings. They would need a full expansion to really let you continue playing after each of the endings.

not really, continued play could simply be a few dialogue addons.
"your the strip leader "
"hail mighty kaiser [insert playername]
etc
expansions could be like FO3 and just be added areas and quests that run along side main game.

its FO4 i am thinking of
done the east coast, and west coast...where next ?
whats middle america like for a fallout setting ?
down south ?
rad gators n rad mosquitos ?
feral hillbillies ?

It has way more than four different endings, unless you are referring to the faction endings. There must be at least 100 different slides for the ending.
