My ending svcked! (rant)

Post » Mon May 02, 2011 8:49 pm

After finishing up exploring around for my first play-through I finally decided to do the final mission. I sided with yes-man, killed Mr. house, and rerouted all power to the securitrons. For the final mission there was completely no immersion what so ever.......none.......at all....zip. Basically all I did was go to the dam, kill some ncr, start the computer, kill some legion, kill more legion, kill a couple more legion, and enter the legion base so I can kill some more high tiered legion. Then finally find the legion general where after a 15 min dialog of trying to get him to not fight me I end up having to kill him anyway. Then comes then the ncr general with the same actions as the legion one. (15 min dialog trying to stop an inevitable encounter) He gets one shotted by securitrons, then "Game Over"

Just my minor rant after beating the game. Even my sister that was watching as I was playing was like "Is that it?". It was a very anti-climatic ending ihmo. Hopefully the other endings are better.

I thought it was a pretty good ending. I focused on the conversation and not the duration of the conversation. Maybe that helps.

I don't understand... I found the ending very satisfying with NCR and the final phase for them is probably a bit less than the solo path. What would have helped it? A big uber-boss that is 10 times as powerful as the Legate, or...?

Tsk. I convinced Legate Lanius to back down since the efforts to occupy all of the NCR's territory would eventually wear down the Legion. I was rather surprised how reasonable the fellow was and that he cared more about preserving order in the East than conquering new territory.

Although I was allied to the NCR so your mileage may vary.

I beg to differ
twas a very awesome ending, especially if you would make everything you did with yes man harder on yourself( (like destroying the damn instead of powering the securitrons) Yes man always had great commentary.

Although
the Caesars legion finale was the most fun, so do theirs next time, if you plan on giving NV another chance (it deserves it).. Mr. Houses was the least fun, it just left me with an empty feeling.

And the ending was pretty great, there was a lot of closure. It left me with an accomplished feeling. Although, idk where they can go now with the dlc if they plan on making it extend past the finale because you learn of every NPC's death.

It was a good game, awesome ending. I cant think of a better ending can you mr complainer??

and remember
War, war never changes.

Oh man, I thought the ending was completely awesome.

Brotherhood of Steel helping me take out the Legion inside the Dam.

Boomers doing an air raid on the Legion.

Remnants dropping in and kicking ass.

And the Veteran Rangers doing an all out assault on the Legion.

Plus, the dialogue options with the Legate, and his dialogue, were very good. I was able to challenge him, 1 on 1, and I found the fight very satisfying. And considering I did many quests, the epilogue was full of content, very lengthy, and satisfying.

Compare that to Fallout 3's "LOL ROBOT, LOL U DIE" ending.

What ending had the Brotherhood of steel help you?!?! that makes no sense
The only one that might was the independent vegas one with yes man, but i dont recall him ever asking me to try and get the BoS to help he just told me to kill them.

I know the rangers didnt like the BoS and had you kill them
Mr House had you kill them, no buts
Caesars legion had you kill them to. Soooo????

If McNamara stays as the Elder, then you can have the Brotherhood make a peace treaty with the NCR.

Hmm, all my NCR ending had was the bombing run (which I missed, /sigh). And I don't recall any long conversation with the Legate, so I guess I either didn't have the skills needed or picked the wrong choices. It was just a long slog through lots of Legion in/on the dam, and a big fight in the camp.

And then most of the ending slides were depressing (except Cass's)..... Followers lose, Novac loses (I thought I did the quests there, but apparently I could have defended them from the Legion?), everyone's annoyed with the NCR, etc, etc, etc.

/sigh

Didn't feel very heroic or successful. :(

How the hell do you get the Boomers to help? Should I have gone back and asked at some point after I was idolized by them?

I got basically the same ending as the OP and honestly, for 70 hrs, it was anticlimactic. Oh and depressing. Everyone I helped pretty much got [censored] in the end anyway.

Spoiler
After slaying Lanius in the Wild Card ending, confronting General Oliver at the gate was one of my all-time favorite Fallout moments. Ah, the tone in his voice as my robot army rolls up behind him - reducing Oliver to a plasma puddle - it was priceless.

You missed out on the Brotherhood and the Enclave showing up to help. Next time, you should try to get Arcade Gannon's companion quest. Not only is it a very good quest in its own right, but it leads to a really awesome scene where the Vertibird cavalry swoop in to save the day.

With Novac, you have to optimize the rockets' flightpath in order to get the good ending.

Rest assured that with different choices, there are some very heroic ending possibilities! :)

Yep. Only companions I did anything with were Veronica & Cass. And since I only found the BoS once I had Veronica, all my dealings with them were colored by Veronica's story.... so I thought going with Hardin was the "good" result. Needless to say, nothing good came from that. (Failed to convince McNamara with the Vault 22 plant tech, since the other two weren't available. Got Veronica exiled. And then couldn't get any further quests from them because they were tied up with the impeachment trial for the rest of the game.)

...and didn't have enough Science yet at that point. Certainly had no hint that anything to do with the rockets would effect Novac at all. Still have no idea where they were trying to go.

And my new playthrough is trying to actually get Speech and Barter high early, so that I can try those options instead. So I won't have enough Science again. Unless I put those quests off for awhile. Ah, well. :)

Yes Man's ending is quicker as dealing with the other factions is optional instead of a requirement.
