Energy weapons...now svck

Post » Sun Mar 06, 2011 2:59 pm

honestly I had more of an easy ride using EW then conventional weapons, if you add a beam splitter to a laser rifle it adds punch to unarmoured foes.
Use the +3 damage mod with a scope on its own you have a very powerfull mid game sniper, and keep a fully modded version for more mid range work.

I've got the strangest luck in NV, my latest character I went back to guns for a change, even before I reached primm I've ended up with 2 laser pistols, 2 plasma pistols, a plasma rifle, and a laser RCW all just from the easy areas around Goodsprings, no merchant bought ones either??
Last game I could not get any good stuff, so my advice save before entering any building, and when you loot it, quit to menu and continue.

I aquired an AMR on a random Ranger between Nipton and Novac. He only had four bullets though.

I did a Vegas rush for my EW character and the first bunch of fiends drop Cowboy and Caravan.......so I sold them to the Van Graffs for a Laser Rifle.

Eventually have it fully modded, but than I just feels wasting MFCs and weight to have it along with Gauss.

I did not get the guass right till the end tbh. it's a great weapon but I'm glad I lacked the best till later as it made my tactics more important I felt.
Switching styles to suit the best outcome, and learning that armour was more likely to hinder against certain foes, and so on.

Source? Exact values of DT bypass?

Did he freaking read my suggestion of -5 DT on OC and -10 DT on MC? :-)

Or alternately he saw the http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=35240 I released that implemented such an alteration.

We'll wait and see as to what values end up in the game.

Cool. Nice idea with tiering them and differentiating between ECP, MFC and SEC. But -12 DT on MFC MC is kind of a stretch. I doubt Sawyer would go that high in armor bypass. Still, you're headed in the right direction with your mod and it's very similar to what I've done in my game lately.

Well, let's see what Sawyer''s done. I hope he tells us sooner than in patch release notes. :-)

Remember the DT problem I posted about, the OP of the topic that Sawyer announced the official E-Weap De-Nerf in the next patch. At the time I boosted up the DT effects, I had heard of the problem, but hadn't truly tested it myself, but was still going off that info.

And I think, considering the cap cost that goes into a MaxCharge MF cell and that many E-weaps use more than one, that DT -12 is quite justified for MaxCharge MFs. Each time you shoot your plasma rifle with a MaxCharge load, 15 caps worth of ammo goes gets expended (not actual cell value, but cell value of the MF cells you expended to craft it).

Easy-ish way to get Gauss Rifle early-ish: :D

Spoiler
West of New Vegas on the mountains is a shack called Brewers Beer Bootlegging (or something like that). In the basemant is a gun cabinet that has a change to have a high level gun, including Tri-Beam Laser Rifle and Gauss Rifle. The best part is that even though the basemant door and the cabinet are Average and Hard locked, there are keys to both in the shack. Just save outside it, and try again until you get the gun you want. Only problem is the swarm of Cazadors outside the shack.

I am currently at lvl 30 had a perk build that I sat down and made out just for energy weapons to be used in V.A.T.S. I have the Q-35 Matter Modulator, the Pew Pew and the AER14 Prototype on me. I have become liked with the BoS so I get a constant supply of MF Cells, Energy Cells, and Electron Charge Packs from the crate they setup in the Hidden Valley Bunker. So right now I am killing just about anything in one V.A.T.S.

Thanks first playthrough I found one there, but was playing guns, guns, guns, second playthrough with EW I found nada in the way of loot, mods, or ammo even there and I did look believe me...
Honestly everytime I choose one style I get every good weapon but that style I picked, even those places that sold EW mods where dry for the ones I wanted if any at all.

Currently using melee, every playthrough previously I found a sledge hammer before primm, not this time, first time I gambled on roulette it came up 00 twice in a row??
Who bets on 00!

Well I've not yet got my grubby hands on a Gauss Rifle, so I couldn't say as to its effectiveness yet.

The Gauss Rifle in this game is great, a lot better than it was in Fallout 3. It's really effective against Caesar's troops in the Hoover Dam battle. It can send them flying against the wall or pop their heads open with one shot.
