Engineer Build

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 1:02 pm

okay, my main is an Engineer, and I discovered that even if I got all the Universal and Engineer abilities, I wound up with 1 extra point...so I kept thinking, what to do with this extra point? and then it het me! Firewall! Engineers can upgrade CPs, and Operatives can Firewall them. So it's simple really. Capture and upgrade a CP with Engineer, then quickly switch to Op and Firewall it, then switch back!

so, for all you Engineers, or anyone really, wondering what to do with an extra point, get Firewall for when you capture a CP.

Except when you switch the buff to the command post disappears. Sorry to burst your bubble there. Personally I put extra points into the medic Lazarus grenade if you are looking to drop that one point. I rarely play medic but when I am forced to having that big everyone gets the hell up skill can mean the difference between holding the line and losing it.

the buff doesn't disappear. who told you that? self-buffs disappear yes, but the Command Post buffs stay until it switches hands.

Sprinting Grenade, Grenade Shooting, Sense of Perception, and the one that gives you third person while you're capping are all pretty wasteful IMO. In fact, in the general skills tree I only took the extra health point, extra supply point, sprinting reload, supply regeneration rate, and downed fire.

If you only take those skills you have enough to get every engineer skill and get all the major skills in one other class - I went with medic as the second class, so the character becomes a full on supporter, able to heal or buff.

I can see sprinting grenade useful if you are a Light Soldier, what with how many grenades they are given access to. I personally find investing too heavily in one tree to be a disservice to your team (unless you have a squad where you have a predefined role). You never know when the random Medic on your team chooses to D/C.
