They are not overpowered--the turrets are laughably stupid, the mines are OK I guess when you get a chance to deploy them, the damage buff is definitely nice though.

I'm guessing you are playing single player with equally stupid bot AI because a competent player isn't going to die to a turret.

Engineers are kinda ridiculous. Not only are they a major focus in brinks missions, but they also have an insane ability to lock a place down. Mines, especially when theres 2, are just obnoxiously powerful when you use them how theyre supposed to be. Guarding an objective? wait for the guy to step on a mine and then gun his softened hide down. Or let the turret do it.

For the record, turrets use LoS and the radar, and also take another second to lock on and turn slowly. Inconvenient, but realize it and use it properly where A) Place it as far back and so their LoS is constricted to just whats infront of them, B) mark target for the turret. C) assist the turret so it can help you down the target.

Theyre not player killers, but they can really mess things up for people.

Can't set the turrets too far back, they've got a limited range beyond which they simply will not lock on to an enemy player. When they work, they do a pretty decent job, but they don't always work very well.

Put the turrets right inside a doorway, so when they go through, blam! but the turrets tend to be a distraction, somthing to irritate other players and keep them ducking..

A skilled Engineer is a force to be reckoned with.

Honestly, I'm not good at them.

Medic/Op and now a couple of Soldier abilities for me. I'll back the Engineers up when PSN comes back up - whatever you need, I can be - mostly Op/Medic though...

The only problem I find with Engineers ONLINE is that EVERYONE uses the "CARB-9 SMG"... because simply it's the strongest SMG in the game. (With a damage buff, ... yeeeeeaaaahhhh)

I'm Engineer though so I can't really complain cause I'm pretty much doing the SAME tactics.. lol.

I'm usually always Best Engineer in a game. I was Soldier at first, but Engineer's buff, and having Mines really help to lock a certain area down for Defense.

I hate Medics the most... sometimes they will cheat I SWEAR. I'll kill like 4 guys, Medic revives himself and starts reviving everyone in a matter of seconds... OR. If theres another Medic in that group of 4 he'll automatically revive him (EVEN IF IT'S AN AI DOING SO), and they start chain reviving each other... over and over and over again... I seriously hate that.

I have no problems even taking Heavys down.. why does it seem Medics (light/medium), are even better then a Heavy? Seriously..?

Heavies aren't invulnerable tanks - they're the big guns. They're tougher than most, but they're not as durable as someone smart enough to buff their health as it gets low. Also, if you're outnumbered by Medics and one of them has Adrenaline, you're going up against at least one invulnerable opponent.

i have to agree with OP. i think soldier and engineer could trade buffs, at the least.

Engineers are great for setting up defensive positions. A heavy assault is a wrecking ball though, Auto nade launcher with AR secondary w/ m203, satchels for defense, molotovs and flashbangs can SERIOUSLY mess up a teams well laid defenses though. Engineers are overly powerful for defending area's until the later ranks because they get most of their stuff at the start and just get to upgrade them. Operative seems suprisingly underpowered which is nice, but a good operative can completely destroy an entire teams assault.

All classes are equally powerfull, engineers are pretty powerful on their own which is why you think they are OP.

Soldiers would then have 33% damage increase, armor penetrating bullets, 10% damage resistance, and a plethora of explosives. Soldier/Medic Duo would be unstoppable.

i wouldn't say overpowered, because the turrets and landmines are in stupid spots most of the time
but I would agree that they are a bit annoying

I remember this one game were we had to escort nychaiav (however you spell it)
and when we got to the open area close to the door out of the compound

there they were 6 turrets waiting for us and a crap load of landmines every where
it was just horrible...

i mean our team handled the turrets pretty easy but they just got annoying fast

I think they are alright i mean they are made for locking down areas so if you start taking that ability away from them they will get underpowered very easily turrets already go down with minimal effort and really only slow you down and might kill you if you aren't careful. This being said i have not and hope that i never come across a whole team of engineers guarding an area.
