My Epic Skyrim Story of the Day!

So I'm playing as a lvl 28 high elf ranger/sword and board character, and I have that mod that lets you build your own home out in the rift on that river/waterfall. I was wanting to build my watchtower, but it turned out that one of the mats I needed was some deer hide. I thought "hey, I'm a ranger. I can head right out and be back with some deer hides within a couple in game hours."

Anyways, I make my way out into the hot springs looking area of the rift, the part where there is that big dragon mountain right in the middle. I'm strolling along collecting ingredients and searching for some deer or elk. I make my way over a small hill and when I get to the top, across a small pool of the hot springs I see a rather large group of deer, 5 of them to be exact. They don't see me so I go into sneak mode, and take out one of them all the way to the right with my bow, which didn't alert the others. I shoot the second one, and he goes down, the rest of the group starts to scramble and run away, and I'm only able to take down 1 more before I can't see the others any more. I'm walking back to the first deer carcase to skin it and get the materials I need, when I see a giant shadow cross the screen on the ground right where I'm standing.

I look up, and it seems that the dragon that spawns on the mountain in the rift hotsprings didn't like too much that I was there. It's a frost dragon, and still a tough opponent for my level (not abusing smithing and enchanting). I duck behind some trees and are able to avoid many of it's attacks while shooting it with some arrows....the trees are skinny though and occasionally the frosty blast hits me doing considerable damage. There aren't many trees around, so when the dragon finally lands I decide to make a run for it.

As I'm running along the edge of the mountain I see the word of power up where the dragons nest is. The dragon has taken to the skies again and is circling me from above, and occasionally on my way up the mountain I need to duck behind some rocks. I make it to the top, and grab the word of power and some loot from a chest when the frost dragon lands right behind me. I decide it's a good spot to make a stand for it. I'm in heavy armour with a shield and an exquisite steel sword so I'm imagining that I can maybe take it down.

I run up to the dragon, epic dragonborn music still playing on max, and begin swinging away at it. Every time it tries to bite me I shield bash it, but my stamina soon runs out. Once that is gone I can only block it's lethal bites, which still take out a good 20% of my health every time. Looking at the dragons health bar, I barely have it below 70%, even after exhausting all my arrows, and wailing on it with my sword. I'm getting very low on health, and am out of potions, so I decide that I need to leg it, and maybe come back and kill it later.

I begin sprinting down the mountain path, when I see off to the north a giant camp. There is a giant chilling there calmly tending to a mammoth which is also there, and I think to myself "That'll work!"

I sprint directly into the giants camp, enraging the giant there as well as the mammoth, soon after the dragon lands behind me, and is quickly set upon by the giant and the mammoth.

I open the chest in the giant camp which luckily has arrows in it. I dive into some nearby trees and watch the battle of these three massive creatures. Amazingly, the giant and the mammoth by this time had taken the dragon down to 20% health WAY faster than I ever could have. I begin pelting arrows into the dragon, who is far too busy with the giant and the mammoth to even notice me, and very soon, the frost dragon has fallen!!!!

That was the most epic dragon fight I've had in Skyrim to date, and the most gratifying soul to collect :-)

Yeah, it's always cool if you're facing an overpowered foe to find someone to help you out. Giants, bears, frost trools, whatever's available. Of course, with my luck, they usually end up double-teaming me.

Solution to the problem: Legendary Ebony Armor.

Something funny that happened to me in game the other day was I entered Breezehome and Nazeem followed me in as he started to talk about how I don't get to the cloud district enough. I had a two handed axe equipped and I one-shot him but it did the kill animation where he puts the axe handle behind his head and then headbutts him three times in a row, and I was wearing a steel helmet with horns. I'm not sure why but I just found the whole situation absolutely hilarious.

Do you get to the cloud district very often? Oh what am I .... ARRRGH
