I think I’m missing out on some aspect of this game. I’m playing a level 55 assassin, but it seems like my gear is way underpowered compared to what I read about others using. I have a daedrick bow that hits for 77, Dawnbr4eaker that hits for 36, and Dragon bane that deals out 42 points of dmg. I keep seeing posts about uber weapons that hit for triple digits, but I’m not seeing them. I ramped the difficulty up to master, and I’m just getting my ass kicked. I know some guys have smithing maxed, and that is one way to make killer items, but my character wouldn’t fit with that build style. Is there some way to get better gear that I’m missing?
I just started a new charterer, level 5, a paladin , all on master, so I want to have him progress better if possible.
Do you do enchanting? Most of the gains come from enchanting.
Your Daedric Bow does 18 base damage. Smithing adds 10 points to it. Damage = 28
Your 100 skill in archery adds 50% and your 5 perks in Marksman adds 100%: 28 * 1.5 * 2 = 84
If you did enchanting. Your smithing skill would be better. You would be able to add 20 points of damage to your bow, not just 10. It's actually a bit more than that, but I don't remember the value. Damage = 38
This value gets multiplied by your skils and perks multiplier: 38 * 1.5 * 2 = 114
There is Fortify Archery enchantments you can wear. Each piece does around 40% damage boost. You can wear 4 pieces. If you wear all 4, then the damage is boosted by 160%: 114 * 2.6 = 296
If you do alchemy on top of that. Your smithing would be even better. You would be able to add 40 points to your bow. Damage = 58
And multiply by skill, perks and enchanting: 58 * 1.5 * 2 * 2.6 = 452
Now you can double the damage when you need it by drinking a potion: 452 * 2 = 900
