This may help, works for me. When I start steam, if I go to Fallout New Vegas and start the game it freezes after intro just as final screen is loading. What works for me 100 percent is I hit update video drivers on steam, it already has the 134 mb fine in cache, takes 20 seconds to reload, then game starts and plays with zero glitches. Now here is the comical part, I sent a tech request to bethesda. The response I received said that Fallout New Vegas came out before windows 7 and therefore was not made for that operating system, what kind of BS is that? Just another case of a poorly written program glitching when forced to go through steam's crashfest. Glad I only paid $19 for this game or I would dispute the charge and send them back the cd as confetti. And by the way, the game was actually fun once I was done wasting 3 days trying to fix it. My vidcard is a 6870 ati.
