ESSENSIALS OF A WARRIOR

Post » Tue Jun 05, 2012 6:07 am

Hi Elders................

I need some input for becoming a warrior. Now 6 more levels to go and I can make my ebony armor. This armor is level wise, means the highest the level you are and make it, then the best it is?

And what about combination? 2 handed, shield + 1 handed, dual handed or magic + 1 handed? And which perks I should invest the best?

My smith tree, all are opened except dragon, daedric and ebony armor, other perks are still pending.

Really many thanks for your comments and inputs for me as a guidance.

I'm not sure what you're saying about the ebony armor when you say "level wise" and "highest the level". I think with high enough Smithing and appropriate Perks you can smith it past the armor cap, though. You can definitely smith Daedric and Dragon past the cap with the right Perks.

As for 2-H, Blocking, and 1-H: that would depend upon your style or preference. I tend to fight fast/spastically so on my heavy armor guy I went with 1-H + Sword perks because I dual wield swords on him.

I chose the Smithing perks all the way up to Dragon, but I wear Daedric on him. The Ebony armor is beautiful, but I don't love the helmet...it's too narrow and looks odd. :P

Hi buckom,

Thanks for your input, for the ebony armor, I mean if I smith it at low level, all parameters went down? And if I'm in high level, then the moment I smith it, then all parameters will go up?

Tonight, I will try dual, and see how fast I can kill them out.... hahahahaha!

Items you craft aren't leveled. They're only leveled items in quests and such - Dawnbreaker, Chillblade or whatever it is you get in TG questlines are good examples.

your smithing level doesnt affect how strong armor is when you make it, but it does affect how much it can be improved.

Choosing which kind of weaponry you will use is really up to preference. Dual-wielding is the most damaging, but least defensive option. Sword and shield allows for quick attacks and enhanced defense, but less damage output. Two-handed allows you to block with your weapon and perform stronger single blows. Spellsword can give you the edge at a longer distance, but lacks defense and requires you to invest in Destruction magic too.

IMHO 2h weapons are the best overall because of their versatility:
- can have the same defense as shields (save vs arrows)
- longest reach
- can hit multiple enemies at the same time with power attack
- second highest damage (after dual wield)
allowing hit and run tactics and dealing with multiple attackers.
Also with the long hammer you can have all these benefits with the speed of a 1h weapon at the same time, for even more flexibility.

2H is quite good but when you are enchanting, Dual Wielding applies 4 effects on your target instead of two effects. When your weapons are designed nicely, the damage and the control on your targets has a lot more value to it especially when you dual power attack.

With four effects on your hands, you would not need or want to block at all.

Also when you are pursuing back paddlers, the speed on your jabs with Dual Wielding is a lot faster if you have a dagger on your off hand, with the right effects on your weapons, they are not going anywhere.

Wow comrades, that means, I have to choose between dual and 2H. But one question, do any of the attacks of these preferences needs magika? Since I have already invested six levels to it and don't wanna waste. If really no need, then I will stop investing there.

Then I will have no chance to use my newly constructed conjure storm atronach, right?

The following is just my opinion and I can only speak from my personal experience and research.

I would not invest anything in magika at all even if I wish to use a lot of magic, due to that via item crafting, you can create items that reduce the cost of magkica in %, eventually beyond 100%. That means you would not need any magicka to cast spells on a specific schools you have crafted your items for.

I also do not invest anything in stamina either, even without eating any Vegetable Soup.

If you wish to understand the game more before you make your decisions, I recommend you to have a look at pm00's video over on You Tube:

He is also a member of this forum and he tests a lot of things in the game.

It's your choice on how you use this information, or complete ignore them if they contrasts with you play style.

Good luck.

your smithing level doesnt affect how strong armor is when you make it, but it does affect how much it can be improved.
This.

Also, you can always improve your armor and weapons that you've made as your skill increases. Think of "Legendary" as a range and not one specific number. You can smith Ebony armor up to Legendary at 80 (I think...it may be 90) as long as you have the Ebony perk (your Smithing skill must be much higher to improve it if you don't have the perk). Then as you level Smithing up higher you can increase it's armor rating. You can also increase it's armor rating by wearing enchanted gear (Fortify Smithing) and drinking potions. You could wear 1 piece of Fortify Smithing gear and improve the armor. Then you can put on another piece of Fortify Smithing gear (for 2 pieces total) and improve it more.

You don't have to do it that way though - you can wear 4 pieces and drink a potion and do it one time and be done with it. For example, on my assassin chick she wears Legendary Forsworn that exceeds the armor rating cap (567 I think). The way I did this was by wearing 4 pieces of +25% Fortify Smithing gear and drinking a +120% Fortify Smithing potion and then improving the armor pieces with Leather.

FYI: there is an exploit that allows you to wear 5 pieces of Fortify Smithing gear (Falmer Helmet and Circlet - also works with Penitus Oculatus Helmet and Circlet), but 4 is enough for me.

If any of this isn't clear just ask for clarification.

Edit: weapon improvement behaves the same way
