Hey fellow members,

In a week I will travel around Europa for 3 weeks.
So to get an idea of what it will be like, Id like to ask you all for your travel stories.
And perhaps tips :ninja:

Cheers,
Badboyd

Common-sense tip - Don't plan your trip too much around capital cities. More often than not, there are far nicer places to visit than a country's capital.

Apparently traveling to Greece is supposed to be the greatest accomplisment in the world. My co-workers act as if I should be bragging about it.

I really wish I could travel Scandinavia, I'd probably try to stay there, legally or illegally.

This is what I discovered when I was in London. After a few weeks hanging out at my friend's house and doing the city stuff I began taking day trips to smaller cities and towns around SE England. I remember the first was Rochester (dikeen's home town) and I thought "Woah, this is really England!".

Europe is very diverse, much more than US. So, you need time to visit Europe. Or focus on one or two countries. Else, you will have a very superficial approach of Europe, you will not know much. In 3 weeks, you could for example spend 1 week in the UK, 1 week in France and 1 week in a southern country of Europe like Spain, Portugal, Italy or Greece.

If you're going to Paris, go to the top of the Eiffel Tower, but be sure to take the stairs so you can progressively see the city expand.

And because the cues for the lifts are massive.

I Know this might sound silly, but wherever you're walking, even if you're just walking around the airport or whatever - walk purposely, like you know exactly where you're going and at a good rate - Thieves and pickpockets target people who are obviously tourists and have their guard down - try to give the impression that you're not a stranger in a strange land, but are here every other day.

I see, how long is the flight to Saturn these days?

I've been twice, so that must count double!

Nah, the southeast is really just a homogenised suburb of the USA. You want to go to the west coast for the proper England. The south coast is a bit better too, though the air is sickly.

I haven't been to Europe or even outside my country for that matter but I'm leaving in 3 weeks to travel across Europe for 6 months. I plan to visit Italy, Spain, France, Holland, Germany and the UK. If you guys have any tips for travelling across these countries or in general I would also greatly appreciate them.

Excellent, you have fine taste.

The UK is a terrible place, ruled by idiots and sellouts, and it has a population who are more interested in the x factor than whats happening. And Chavs, they are everyhwere.

I visited London once. Avoid it, its a pretty bad place, needs more green and its crowded, busy, and just feels unpleasant. No idea why people would want to live there. Or visit there, it has some nice buildings, but for every nice one there are 10 ugly buildings. I wouldnt mind visiting other parts of England in the future, but London, never again.
