Do we even know the WHEN aspect for the PC Requirements?

Post » Sun May 29, 2011 1:01 am

I play FO3 on Windows 7 64bit and yeah, it occasionally crashes to desktop, but we're talking about once every 10-15 hours of gameplay,

Heck, that's a pretty good CTD rate for gamesas games. I get CTDs more often than that in Oblivion on WIn XP.

On a good note, much has been said over the different interviews that alot of time was spent optimizing things, and alot of frame-rate testing was done in-game to make sure the areas all work well. I GECKulate that the system requirements might actually be Less than those for Fallout3 given the engine and cell content will be more optimized. I highly doubt it would be worse unless the content was significantly more complex or more numerous, and the trailers don't lead me to GECKulate that, so I think it will run better than Fo3 on the same hardware.

i heard from someone that the system requirements might be higher because there is much more you can do in this game than in FO3. bigger areas. more guns. more characters. more melee weapons. + a melee system i hear. so id think the more they ad to FO NV the more it will ask for in System Requirements. im starting to think i shouldnt have pre-ordered til i read the official specs >_>

All those things have nothing to do with System Requirements outside of one thing - needing more space on your harddrive to install the game to. Those things have no correlation to the computer hardware needed to run the game. Daggerfall had more weapons, NPCs, quests, and a much bigger map area than Oblivion, but it runs on very old PCs.

Polycounts, complexity of shaders, number of textures and their resolutions, number of characters and objects in one area at one time, and complexity and number of parallel scripts active, are some of the things that determine system requirements.

i guess so. i looked at FONV screen shots and FO3 screen shots and compared them and graphic wise they seem to be around the same

Guys, Flame Bait and Trolls.

Also, FO:NV dev's mentioned that there are internal improvements, so more or less, it should be less laggy either way even if you have a lesser system running it on low - med, considering that FO:NV's graphics is more or less the same as FO3's, just with improvements here and there, higher texture resolutions, better animations, etc, etc, so on and so forth.

+10 to LateWhiteRabbit for his/her knowledge, particularly on matters where not everyone knows much about.

NVIDIA GeForce 6 series video card; ATI 1300XT series minimum video card

While the game will run on that low end of a card, you won't enjoy it. I would say that for Nvidia, at least a high end 7 or 8 series card (x800 or better, x60 or better) or anything from the mid to top end today. For ATI, I would say the 3600/4600 and up cards. Like Nvidia, the last 3 numbers are the key. I do admidt fuzziness on the earlier ATIs.

As to the list compiled by NottheKing, any card made after that list came out that is mid line or better will run this game just fine.

We are quite lucky here in that this game is basically an older game, as far as hardware requirements goes, so we don't need bleeding edge modern video cards/cpus to get the most performance out of it. Not like Oblivion when it came out as it chewed up otherwise powerful rigs and spit them out just for pleasure. I remember Maximum PC used Oblivion to torture test their gaming rigs.

Video Card: Nvidia GeForce 6 series and higher/ ATI 1300 XT series and higher

i guess specs were finally released. i still dont kmow what an ATI 1300 XT is. i still get ATI X1300 XT . as far as Nvidia Geforce 6000 series goes i have a ATI Radeon HD 5550 1024 MB, which is ATI Radeon 5000 series, however Geforce and ATI Radeon are different companies so i dont really know about my card

Hey, we have been using http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1118747-can-my-pc-run-new-vegas/ about the PC specs required and questions about that. Let's keep using that one instead of bringing an older version forward.

Thanks, it will help us keep things easier to find for those just stopping by. :)
