So eveyone wants dragonbone weapons, what should they look l

Post » Tue Jun 12, 2012 11:41 am

What would you want them to look like?
I personally am thinking the maces should look like small dragon's heads but still look functional, the swords should be beige scimitary things and the axes shoould resemble their tails. NO idea for bows.
Any other design ideas?

Bows are the easiest one, use an dragon bones as bow, add an handgrip and center with an dragon motif.

Bows would be made from the long wing bones (They're the most flexible and have to be quite strong) warhammer would have the head horn from a dragon as the head and a leg bone as the handle (Similar to the giants' clubs, but from dragon parts instead) Mace should have dragon teeth on the sides of the head, Dagger and sword should be dragon teeth and dragon talons, respectively. greatsword should have many dragon teeth mounted to form the edges.

To be honest with you I think by adding dragon weapons would only make the character overpowering. I've downloaded the dragon weapon mod and didn't like it. It was too overpowering for my taste.

As long as they do NOT look anything like the Flintstone Armor that call Dragonbone, I'd be happy.

Just use them bones as clubs and you're set.

I'm using the Dragon weapons & armour mod & they have similar stats to Deadric(slightly less powerful that Deadric i believe), Considering you need a skill of 100 & the Dragon perk to craft them they are not overpowered at all.

It's a great mod & i sincerely hope that the consoles get access to these types of weapons & armours but if your a PC user then you can have them now.

I think this is a great description of how the dragon weapons would look like, although there's two things: one, dragonbone weapons would inevitably look like supercharged versions of Forsworn weapons, and two, you missed what axes would look like. I imagine that the one-handed axe could be sharpened dragon scales layered and mounted on a smaller bone for a handle and head, and the two-handed could be two dragon horns set opposite each other on the head with a long bone for the handle.

I think a different approach would be to look at how the devs created dragon bone/plate armor: they used Iron heavily, although iron ingots were not necessary components for the armor. Perhaps instead of dragon bone weapons being made exclusively from bone, they could instead be bone handles with steel blades. They could be nearly as damaging and not quite as heavy (just like the armor) as daedric, and they could be styled or engraved in the same fashion as the carvings found on dragon walls.

The mace is easy. A simple bone. The war-hammer is easy as well. A simple longer bone. Someone said that the bow should be a wing-bone and i agree. The dagger could be a sharpened claw with a handle, the same with the swords. Dunno about the axes.

I don't think there are any straight, sharp bones that you could make into a sword. Dragon bone swords will have to be curved.

Call me crazy, but the Forsworn weapons thematically match the Dragonplate armor a little too well.

I just took a look at the dragonbone weapon mode and have to say this is the all time laziest mod I have ever seen. these are not dragonbone weapons, nor do they even resemble bones in any way. It is simly other weapons (dragur, orcish and forsword mostly) they have been tinted to be the same color of the armor. (unless theres another mod im missing?)

If they make dragonbone weapons they have to make them reall unique, I forsee making the swords of sharpened claws or fangs or perhaps even have jacked bone protrusions along the blade to give it that serrated look.

screw dragon weapons, they will probably look crap and over the top the way most uber weapons look in fantasy games.

Agreed. Lower quality weapons and armour almost always looks better to me in this kind of game. The higher quality ones just look gaudy in my opinion.

...which is why i'm glad there's smithing in Skyrim, so I can upgrade my iron sword and wooden longbow to be slightly better than useless.

My thoughts exactly. I'm very happy for the Smithing skill.
Using Hide armour and Steel Battleaxe at level 47 is very fun indeed, especially with mods such as Wars in Skyrim and WARZONES activated.
