Exactly what is the best way to get gold?

Post » Sun Jun 03, 2012 9:58 am

Is there a good way to get gold fast other than doing quest's? Even with the money from quest's I still don't have enough to get the house in Whiterun, so is there a glitch or a way to farm gold in Skyrim?!!!!

This is the way that I have become rich beyond my imagination: Alchemy....potions, poisons, yes, yes, yes. Sell them. It may take some time visiting merchants, but it is well worth it in my opinion. It also levels up your Speech skill, so it is a no brainer, in my humble opinion. I have become incredibly rich this way. Try it, you'll like it.............

The best way to get a money?

Find a dungeon and loot any loot-able body, chest, urn, etc

I played 4 character.

Until level 10, i can buy a house

Or if you want it fast, follow the Main Quest.

Kill A Dragon (with a help from your follower / main quest follower)

After that, sell your dragon bone and plate

maybe, at low level (1 --> 20)

1 dragon = 500 --> 1000 gold

kill 5 = 1 house

How to find it?

Just walk away and hope you attacked by the dragon

Enchanting is also a good way to get money, you need an weapon with soul trap or the soul trap spell, a load of soul gems, petty and lesser is good enough.

Now ideally you want the banish enchantment, however it can be hard to find at low level and will easy cost 5000, so turn undead, absorb health and some other work well enough and make enchants worth 700. Banish is worth the double.
Now enchant crafted iron dagger of looted weapons you sell and cash in, benefit is that more people buy weapons than potions.

Who do I sell them to? I have been looking for vendors and merchants to sell the dragon bones/scales to but can't find em!
I already have enough dragon scales and bones to buy a house only if I can find a vendor to sell them to.

There's a quest you can get pretty early to clean out a bunch of poachers which gets you the transmute spell. Turn iron ore into silver into gold. Then craft gold into necklaces, enchant if you want, sell. It's one easy way for a very low level character with no skill to (literally) make money.

The quest is a radiant quest - randomly generated. You get the spell from Halted Stream Camp or Ansilvund. The wiki will give details.

nthing alchemy and the other craft skills. You can get pelts, turn them into leather, craft leather goods, improve them with smithying, enchant them and then sell them too - boosts several skills.

One thing to watch out for - getting high levels through crafting skills may put you at a disadvantage in combat. You may have a high level, but your gear and combat skills may be lagging behind and that can be difficult. I suggest keeping all craft skills at or below the level of one combat skill, just to be safe.

If you're not averse to heavy use of spoilers and don't want to level too fast, look into the quest 'No Stone Unturned' on a wiki - it will significantly increase the drop rate of gemstones (really significantly) and they can be used on craft skills and sold as-is for decent amounts of cash.

I've never sold dragon bits to merchants, but if a general store won't take them, try a fence. You'll need to join the thieve's guild (which you need to do for the stone quest anyway). No secret that you want to head to Riften to do that.

If you only want the cash for someplace to store your goods, don't forget that pack mules companions are easy to come by and that there are some safe places to stash stuff if you check the wikis.

"Even with the money from quest's I still don't have enough to get the house in Whiterun,"

Not sure what the problem is here. Even at early levels, clearing out a moderate sized dungeon should yield at least 1k's worth of loot. Alchemy is nice but gathering ingredients takes time and, even in the initial stages, is no substitute for dungeoneering.

Edit: To remove the bold type face. Don't know how that happened. Sorry.

Early on I enchanted weapons with petty soul gems, transmuted iron into gold, and later sold potions.

 it really depends what point of the game i'm at, but early on, i just kill bad guys, but doing quests, clearing out dungeons, enchanting and making potions.

I believe Belethor, the owner of Belethor's General Goods in Whiterun, buys them.

I make Daedric armor and weapons, then enchant them, and sell them Alot of money. But merchants don't have enough to give you so you are going to go alot of them.

lootit lootit lootit

seriously.

if you need it go get it or make it, if you find it and can't use it then sell it and if your crafting isn't high enough then gather and craft until it is... you get lots to sell as a byproduct.

in the meantime, loot it all and pay attention to weight/value ratios. how smart is a battleaxe that weighs 28 and sells for 35 vendor when you can loot mage robes that weigh 1 and sell for 200?

I play on a PC and the one "cheat" I've never fallen prone to is player.additem f [insert gold here] because on my first playthrough my character had 150,000 gold after buying and fully decorating three homes and going through three horses and my second character had 140,000 with a house. All of my characters make money hand over fist until it gets silly and I'm looking for ways to spend it.

it's crazy how rich you can get in this game if you're also naturally nosy or thorough... if a wall in a dungeon looks like it should have a lever or other way to open it and you haven't found it, go find it... loot the urns... loot the draugr whether you killed them or not... look around on the floor and on tables and in bowls and buckets... pick locks to rooms you KNOW aren't going to lead anywhere...
  • potions with 2 or more effects sell well
  • fortify sneak, fortify carry weight, absorb health, damage stamina, frost weapon, and enhance destruction are all really well selling enchants even on iron daggers, leather bracers and plain silver rings
  • if you have to buy it, do it in raw form... leather is cheaper than leather strips and iron ore is cheaper than iron ingots
  • unless you're collecting them like a set, don't learn enchants you're not going to use. sell the items instead.
  • you can learn the same enchant from novice destruction robes that you can learn from apprentice destruction robes, sacrifice the lesser item whenever you can
  • one silver bar makes 2 silver rings one gold bar makes 2 gold rings - that's 2 enchants and 2 opportunities to sell per bar. why make jeweled items that are harder to sell when you're crafting for levels when you can sell the gems and sell the enchanted jewelry instead?
it's easier to make money than to spend it the longer you play.

good luck

If you can stand the monotony chop wood for long periods of time in Riverwood and sell them to the lumber mill chick (not to the store). To save money there's an exploit to buy houses.

I just did the Proving Honor quest at level 17. I picked up 1600 gold from it. Actual gold coins. Thats not counting the gems/jewelry, soul gems, potions, silver weapons, elven weapons/armor.

Three characters, I've used the same strategy after stumbling on it with the first one.Newby friendly for low level characters. Get the transmute spell others have mentioned. Carry a pickaxe at all times, but get to Solitude, by a carriage if you're very weak and don't want to hike so far overland. Head east across the river to the swamps to get loads of excellent reagents for making high value potions. Mudcrabs galore to train your skills on. Go north along the ocean shore, there's lots of iron deposits to transmute into gold ore. You can get away from most enemies by going in the water if they're too strong for you. Horkers are so slow you can play around with them to train up your
combat skills, wolves won't swim after you, and you can usually spot the occasional bear or sabrecat from quite a distance (avoid places, like rock heaps, where you suspect they can be hiding). There's really a lot of ore deposits, scattered, with a chance of containg gems. A few trips along the shore, you'll have a good start from all the ores and high grade potions you can create, plus the bonus of building up your combat skills on opponents that aren't likely to swarm and overwhelm you.

Smith a ton of iron daggers, enchant them all with banishment, sell them. Thus building up your smithing skill and your enchanting skill. Banishment is the most expensive enchantment I've found so far, besides paralyze and absorb health.
