Expanding on Smithing Perk Tree in Expansion

Post » Tue Jun 12, 2012 5:15 am

Do you think that in the new expansion they will add new armor, and with that, extend the smithing perk tree? Or do you believe they will just add new armor and label it under daedric, ebony, or another armor already implemented in the game?

I doubt they will make any new craftable armor available in the expansions. If they do, it'll likely be dumped under the ones already listed.

I'll bet there would be new armor/weapon additions, but no accompanying perks. They always seem to expand the arsenal a bit with expansions, but I don't think they can change the entire perk tree to accomodate; it would effect too many people with well established characters. I don't think they'll lump them under current categories either. Iron, Fur, Falmer, and Foresworn armor already aren't effected by perks, so they could reasonably get away with this. The only exception I could think of is any new styles of steel or any artifacts or unique items that use current styles (Ebony, Daedric).

Edit: I was wrong, thanks stormbird... :wink:

From the UESP. Forsworn Axe

perk: http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Steel_Smithing

Falmer Armor
(000b83cb) Heavy Armor http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Chaurus_Chitin;
perk: http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Steel_Smithing

Bearing in mind that not all weapons and armor of Forsworn/Falmer gear are available to upgrade, and some that are available do not take a perk.

I imagine they would lump them under current categories.

Okay. So that's what Chaurus chitin is good for. Otherwise it's just heavy junk that doesn't sell for very much money. It's never seemed a fair tradeoff. They're one of the deadliest enemies in the game and all you get is a block of their tissue that isn't worth lugging around.

That's a solid addition... although being able to collect that hardcoe poison they spit would have been cool.
