Expanding the boundaries of the game?

Post » Tue Jun 19, 2012 2:35 am

Hi all, first post, didnt know how to find whether or not this question had been asked yet, if it has been please just direct me to it and close accordingly.

But

Im trying to build a town, and the only good space I can find is space outside of the allowed boundaries for the game, when I COC there, it wont let me move, "you cant go that way" and all that.

My question is, obviously, is there some way to expand the borders of the playable area so that we can build on all the unused land in Skyrim?

I appreciate your times. Help a brother out

Kind of, you can walk a certain distance but then the land disappears as much of it is dummy scenery (LOD only). Then as you get further out the entire land becomes bugged if you go east or west, owing to the current collision issue we are pestering Bethesda to fix. Youre a bit limited at present, but it can be done.

It's an ini setting to open those areas up. Should be bBorderRegionsEnabled=0 under [General] in Skyrim.ini.

Can I also suggest you check out the http://www.darkcreations.org/forums/forum/120-beyond-skyrim-general/ forum? This has been set up to help modders collaborate on projects, er, beyond the Skyrim border. Since you'll be in another province once the borders are disabled as bwillb describes you may find your planned town fits well with plans by other modders.

As thekarithian says, we have a big bug problem with cells beyond the range -64 < x < 64 but you sound like you want to be quite nearby and on the original game map so this shouldn't affect you.
