Extremely Low FPS when starting game

Post » Thu May 31, 2012 4:52 pm

Hey guy's, like the title says. For some reason when I tried to load up Skyrim today, it loaded up the start menu at like 7 fps. Needless to say, the whole main menu is extremely choppy. Nothing like this has ever happened before. Anyone have any ideas as to what may be causing this? I run the game through Steam and use MSI On Screen Display for the FPS limiter (set at 30fps).

Happens to me often,

reboot your pc and try again.

Edit: it happens when my pc has been in sleep mode (win 7) and affects other games aswell.
A reboot always cures it, may not be the same issue you're experiencing.

It affects my core 2 duo (e4700) + GTS 450 and my i5 2320 + GTX 560 ti so in my case it appears that Windows 7 can't power up my GFX card properly after being in sleep mode.

Thank you so much for the answer. I was wondering why this was happening.
