Fail 360 is Fail

Post » Thu May 26, 2011 8:55 pm

My savegame on my Xbox 360 will not load after the game froze up on my while entering New Vegas, and when I try to load it, it says something like "This save game relies on downloadable content that is no longer available. Some objects may be no longer available. Continue loading?" I press yes, and it says "The storage device selected is no longer available. Load cancelled." and takes me back to the home screen. If I press "Continue" there, the loading screen appears, then it just freezes. I've already cleared the cache and what not, now I'm thinking it's a nasty [censored] bug that ruining my gaming Anyone have any idea about this? (Sorry if someone already posted something about this)

I'm not a 360 user, but that sounds like the most recent save has been corrupted, delete it and load an earlier save. If you don't have an earier save, you need to start from beginning and start making multiple saves.

And have you installed NV onto the Hard Drive? That seems to have helped some people.

I deleted a few useless posts. We have no tolerance for childish platform bashing around here, especially when people might be frustrated with an issue related to a particular platform. :stare:

OP, hopefully we will have some hardware/software forums up shortly, and if others have advice, they can offer it. TojKa's advice is good for now though, imo.

So you cleared your cache. Have you installed it on your HD? Do other games work as well?

Ah, did you receive a code to put in your stuff from the classic or caravan pack? Sounds like you have stuff that is DLC that is no longer on your HD...

I certainly hope I don't run into this glitch when I get the game.

If the answer to Sasholon's question is yes and you had a pre order dlc and cleared your cache, you need to redownload the dlc before your save game will work. Hopefully that is the issue...

Hmm... I can say that, having played Fallout 3 before, that if the DLC pack was somehow deleted or not reading, it should just put you into the game without those items. It might be possible that the DLC is corrupted, in which case you'd need to re-download it from the Download History part of 'Account Management'. Besides that, a possible solution would be to DELETE THE SAVE GAME FIRST, THEN clear your system cache. One thing I did for a game that was bugging me was to go to it on my hard drive, select it, and press 'Y' to delete all information about the game off of my Xbox. If the problem persists, you might have to do THAT, then clear the system cache. Sorry, but this is really the only thing I can think of until a patch comes out. Good luck, though! :brokencomputer: :brokencomputer: :brokencomputer: :brokencomputer:

I found the DLC card in my package, I installed it hoping that it would fix the mentioned DLC problems.. No good. I found this, so it seems I'm not the only one with it going on.

Posted by R6Ferret "My save file keeps corrupting at the auto save whenever I try to enter The Strip. I don't know why this is, but I'm going to make a new character on my normal profile tonight anyway. I'll be really angry if this game has bad issues like that though.

It goes to a black screen and then if I turn off the system and turn it back on, the autosave shows up as a corrupt file.

I never had any trouble until I reached level 14 and took the Jury Rigging perk. I repaired a ton of my gear with all kinds of similar items. Now whenever I try to go to The Strip, the game will freeze and corrupt the auto save. Not good."

This is obviously a game problem, not an indiviudal Xbox problem. I did have a save about 1:30 hours in, but that's nearly 4 hours behind my actual save, and that shall piss me off if I'm gonna lose 4 hours worth of work to a glitch which I assumed would be fixed before the game launched.

That's crap, dude. We shouldn't have to not get a game on launch because the game is gonna be THIS buggy and glitchy. For paying $64.64 (with tax) I shouldn't have to "wait" for a patch to fix crap that shouldn't even be a problem to begin with when seasoned developer vets like Bethesda and Obsidian are at the helm. There shouldn't be this many issues for a new game, PERIOD. Let alone a game that's largely similar to the game that preceded it like New Vegas is to Fallout 3. I never had freezing issues with Elder Scrolls or Fallout 3. I never had them freeze and when i reboot the 360 the screen on my TV is all screwed with the colors being black and white and the Health HUD, weapon HUD, and crosshair flashing like mad ON my XBL home page.

Thankfully it auto-saves when I enter and exit a building or fast travel, or else i'd be pissed off, rather than mildly irritated.

I just had to tackle a whole super-mutant base by myself because the NPC that was SUPPOSED to help me, wouldn't respond to my "let's go" dialogue with anything other than his default reponse to my "Give me just a minute" dialogue, which looked like this:

Me: Let's go
Him: Whatever you have to do, make it quick

so he just stood there during the whole mission. That's just ridiculous.

We shouldn't have to wait for a "patch" because they wanted to rush it out the door, patches are good, yes, but the bugs and glitches should NOT be THIS bad upon shipping it out to the consumer. At least not a hugely hyped game, and a game of this quality (or with this kind of reputation of high quality)

Just my opinion though.

Couldn't agree more. I have the same save game issue the OP has and I already put in 12 hours into this game. This shouldn't happen. I can see texture issues or some simple malfunctions with an NPC, but when the game is unplayable because of a save issue, that's where I draw the line. I paid 80 bucks for the limited edition and took a day off work to play. If they don't release some sort of patch to fix this issue, it will all be lost.

I'm a Bethesda apologist, always making excuses about the little things because the greater product cancels out some of it's flaws. But this flaw is too big to apologize for. When you can't play something you bought, that's a broken product.

I feel the same way. I'm a huge Fallout 3 and Bethesda fan, but I've never had this much trouble with any of their games. NV is on a whole new level right now. Hopefully a patch comes soon.
