After seeing the Mini-Mannequin mod and great wing mod I was wondering if it would be possible to create a Fairy custom race. Make the size about third of normal and have them "float" like flying creatures (the bloat fly from Fallout 3 would be a good size and motion).

Hmmm, i would rather fairies be smaller. About the size of the glow bugs would be more fitting in my opinion.

Incidentally, faeries were planned for Daggerfall but they were scrapped during development. Some in-game books survived this process of elimination, so some lore exists for them. But AFAIK that was all retconned by the time Morrowind rolled around.

Love the wings! :)

I made my own Faeries & Angels race for Oblivion. I had to in order to role play my characters. It was one of my first mods and I wound up merging Ren's Hair, Eshme's Body, and Alexander's Wings, then customizing a lot of details for the races to be right for me. I don't even know if I could port it anywhere successfully.

People have already ported a small-sized race from a Korean MMO (I think) into Skyrim (Tera? I can't remember now, but it's on Nexus, I think).

I'd suggest using 0.5 scale, though. That's plenty small enough, trust me. It's the scale I used in Oblivion, and it's very tiny. Not as tiny as glow bugs, but still very tiny (as in my characters in Oblivion can stand underneath the leaves of a Nirnroot, that's how tiny they are at 0.5 scale :) ).

Skyrim's mechanics are a bit different, though. In Oblivion, height changed speed, and weight changed some other stuff, I think. Scale isn't only height, I guess that's the main thing to keep in mind.

The obvious racial power would be "light step" because I doubt a small light weight flying being is going to set off many pressure plates. And if B ever implements flying that'd clearly be a second.

:rolf:

Yes, that's true, although ever since they removed Levitate, that sort of limits us to at jumping VERY high! :P

Did anyone ever wonder why rats in dungeons, especially big, giant rats, never seem to set off the pressure plate traps? Not to mention larger animals... but undead, sure, they set off the traps!

Was thinking about armor and clothing for them I don't think Fairies should use regular armor or clothing; just very light weight garments and jewelry. To compensate they should have a bonus to enchanting and various barrier spells. Also they'd need custom weapons, no fairy is going to duel wield great swords! To compensate they should be masters of poisons.

Well, Dragons do fly. After all, they don't push you and other people when they circle around :hehe:
