I've grown very frustrated with FNV for the moment, since the bugs and the crashes completely ruin my gameplay experience. I admit, I've broken my "three year rule" when buying a game: the rule being that one should not buy a game until it's three years old (because by that time it usually has its worst flaws fixed) so I should have known what I was getting into. I NEVER expected things to be quite this bad, however. So I'm thinking of taking a year or so worth of pause on FNV and buying Fallout 3 instead. So, how is F3 bugs and glitches wise at this point?

FO3 has always been very stable for me.

At worse I get a crash to desktop sometimes when I enter certain outside areas or save in certain areas. But not very often. And suspect those may be caused by some of the overhaul mods I"m using.

But other than that (which might be due to my mods) it is very stable. Also for the PC there is an unofficial patch that fixes a lot of small bugs.

BTW, I haven't had problems with FO:NV but then I've only played a few hours. As I understand it there is a new patch that fixes a lot of problems. I think it is available now for the xbox and next week for the PC and PS3.

Maybe has less bugs, but if you played NV first, Fallout 3 maybe is gonna be a little dissapointing, since that some feature doesnt appeared yet

the most problems i ever had with FO3 was the occasional freeze. NV on the other hand is...not so good

FNV is much more stable than FO3 for me. I'm alternating both games right now. While you can recover from NV's very rare CTD, you can't recover from FO3's lockup since you can't even alt-tab safely out in FO3 in the first place.

Nothing rare about FNV's CTD. Or its on-launch crashing.

3 years is a bit much man. try one year instead, whatever isnt fixed by then isnt going to be fixed.
but ya, its great. still got the freezing and such (engine problem, cant be fixed) and in point lookout sometimes everything floats up in the sky for some reason but theres not much.

Most of Fallout 3's problems have been mended. However, if I played New Vegas first and then played Fallout 3, It'd probably ruin the game for me.

Agree but sometimes its just fun being part of the hype.

New Vegas is only slightly more buggy and unstable than F3 in its "fully" patched state.

FO3 is incredibly stable now and will usually only freeze if you play the GOTY edition on ps3 but that doesnt happen very often

Fallout 3 is pretty stable. The last I played it was a few months ago, but I had very few problems with it, most of which were hard to notice anyways.

Same. But that was because I played for 13 hours straight...

FO:NV used to crash on me twice or more in a 4 hour period, then i installed it (to make it run smoother) and now it only crashes about 3 times a week....that may seem terrible but for new vegas thats a serioud imrovement

Fallout 3 is 100 times better than Fallout NV. much more indepth story line, a much bigger world, and the characters are more real

P.S. FNV crashes on me EVERY SINGLE TIME during the intro credits. Used to only crash to desktop sometimes, mostly with Steam online. Now it just crashes period.

Subjectively speaking, maybe yes. To you. And others.

But factually, it is not. All I can think of is the exploration aspect and that!s pretty much all. You are still being railroaded to the same place without a choice of joining the other side for example.

FO3 was quite good in my books. Gameplay was enjoyable. The functionality of the game was pretty stable, although there're crashes and a few bugs now and then but not as painful. Storyline is acceptable to me even though not completely original. NV on the other hand is painful for the most part of the functionality. Even though the storyline for NV is more original than FO3, I still hate the storyline a lot because of the "ancient" Caesar's Legion as being one of the main fraction. Gameplay however is more enjoyable than FO3 because there's more you can do in the game but still the poor functionality ruins the game overall. Just my 2 cents.

Luckily, unlike wine, games actually get cheaper over time.
