In short, is there a way to force Fallout NV to launch with Steam in the off-line mode ALWAYS :huh:

Once a day (it seems) if I launch Fallout NV I am FORCED to go online or the game does NOT launch.

AFTER a daily online session, Fallout NV DOES launch in the off-line mode.

You see, I am normally off-line most of the time. This maximizes my system from malware.

That's odd. NV has never complained to me about launching when offline.


Oh, and as for malware, simply limiting online time does very little. People aren't trying to actively hack in. If you want to protect your rig run AV software, an ad blocker that actually prevents ads from loading at all, and browse/download smartly. The worst thing I've gotten in months using that scheme on a machine connected and running 24/7 is a couple of tracking cookies. Malware is placed on your machine by malicious ads, malicious downloads or malicious websites.

When I boot my system, a popup appears among the various startup junk asking me if I want to launch Steam in Online or Offline mode. I click Offline. After that, running FO:NV doesn't have any problems. So, yeah, the problem you're having sounds strange. Sorry. :/

I HAD Steam NOT loading during bootup.

I get what I wanted by enabling Steam load during bootup.
