Fallout: New Vegas DLC confirmed, PS3 and PC users "Left

Post » Sun Mar 06, 2011 4:25 pm

So, Fallout: New Vegas DLC has been confirmed. It's also been confirmed exclusive for the XBOX360 on release (Sigh, thank's heaps Bethesda, I really appreciate knowing that after being a fan of yours for FIFTEEN YEARS that you still decide to shaft me for a couple of thousand from Microsoft)

What is more odd is that, while it has been confirmed for PS3 a few months after it is released on the XBOX360, it will NEVER be coming to the PC.

PC Gamers are left in the dust after decades of loyalty to both Bethesda and Obsidian. Rumour has it we won't ever be receiving the DLC(Nowhere states otherwise which is very unusual for something like this)

Scenario 1: Bethesda just seems to have left out details about the PC and the DLC will be released either when the 360 gets it or a few months after when the PS3 gets it.

Scenario 2: PC will never receive the DLC.

Scenario 3: Official DLC will only ever be released as part of a "GOTY" pack for PC players and we will never be able to play it any other way besides that.

Personally, I believe Scenario 3 is the most likely outcome.

For me, this is a step too far, one too many kicks in the shin, one too many low blows.

I have been playing Bethesda games since I was a little kid getting picked on at school for playing too many video games and this is how they reward me? Completely shafting 50% of their fanbase? I don't know what is going on at Bethesda at the moment but between them forcing Obsidian to get New vegas out the door too early filed with bugs, Them suing Interplay to the death probably killing the company, being slower than the PC community to release a patch to fix the horrible, game breaking, save corrupting bugs and this, well, something BAD is going on over there.

What happened to my favorite game developers? What happened? I can only hope that the fact the PC has been excluded from all DLC news reports is some blaring, silly oversight.

Bethesda if you read this and this is some blaring oversight, please, don't go with the extremely silly and ignorant stance of "just staying quiet" like you have about the patches, all it does is incite more bad feelings between you and your fan base.

You have to calm down and ask why they would not offer direct download of DLCs for computers.

The answer? There is none. Why the heck do you think we stuck with STEAM anyway -_-.

I won't be getting the add-ons. I'll just buy the GOTY edition used.

One reason for PC not getting DLC at the same time as 360 is MS has no connections to the DLC now.Besides there will plenty of mods better than the official DLC.

The reason PC users don't get this time around is because they use Steam instead of Window's Live.

I don't see this as being bad.

The first DLC might only be relevant to the Xbox; But even if not... is it that big of a deal? I have all FO3 DLC with the GOTY edition, and I have yet to play (or even begin) any of them... they just don't matter much.

Personally I'm of the mind that if there is no PC DLC at all then Bethesda can go jump off a bridge into a house fire.

Posting in here for the point of inciting a argument or calling somebody a troll is against the forum rules and you will most likely be moderated. Don't do it.

Once again guys, if you think I am wrong (Really hoping I am), please link me to ONE article that says anything about PC getting the official DLC. ONE.

That's all I'm asking. Find one article on the matter that says PC will ever be receiving the official DLC.

As another poster has said, New Vegas is NOT in the same boat as 3 because it uses Steam and not Microsoft Windows LIVE. Microsoft could not care less about the PC version because they get no money from the sales of the DLC on that system anymore.

Don't post in here and say "Oh, Don't worry, It will be released on the PC, you are wrong" without evidence to back up your claims.

And to the people saying "Mods will be better don't worry about it", Maybe you haven't noticed but 1/4 of the map is missing (The west side of the world map) and it has numerous entrances blocked off and messages written in blood such as "GO HOME COURIER" so it's incredibly obvious they plan to add DLC in that part of the world, I don't want to miss out on 1/4 of the world map just because of this.

Do you?

I am going to go out on a limb here and ask you to please calm down.

I, as of now, do not have a source, but I highly doubt that Bethesda would completely ignore 50% of there fanbase for Microsofts cheap buyoff. The PC gamers are what made them who they are today and I know they won't exclude you from the DLC list.

However, I do highly believe that they would ignore there 20% of PS3 gamers (including me) for a couple grand from Microsoft.

Do not start ranting about something before it is a confirmed fact.

Give it a little time, everything will be straightened out.

Happy gaming.

My own opinion is that DLC can (in theory) be a good addition to the game, but it would also be fair (IMO) if DLC were exclusive only to the consoles, as it is the PC edition that has access to the mod tools.

It would seem as if Bethesda want's to "Balance out" the sales of the game on each platform. Think about it.

PC has mods, that is a incentive to buy on PC

Xbox360 gets exclusive DLC on release, that is a incentive to buy on XBOX360

PS3 also gets the DLC but a little bit later, not quite as good as the other two system's exclusives but it still has a huge advantage over PC in the fact that it will receive DLC eventually

EDIT: It's not "fair" to deprive PC users of official DLC just because we can use mods. Official DLC absolutely rocked my world in Fallout 3 and I loved every second of it.

Yeah sure mods rock too, but rarely are "completely seperate maps/new questlines" and such added that are good as official DLC.

Alot of games and their DLCs can be bought from multiple sources. Direct from the company, Direct2Drive, Steam and XBox live games. No reason that just because Microsoft isn't the primary PC distributer that it won't be offered from other sources or multiple ones.

Microsoft owns XBOX 360
Microsoft owns Windows
Windows is the platform the PC version is played on

therefore;

The PC will get the DLC, likely when the 360 gets it, maybe shortly later, but still before the PS3 does.

It occurs to me that a tight deadline (if there is one), would be easier met if they only had to debug new DLC on two homogeneous platforms.

I agree... but I bet its changes this time around...

Yes there is. Oh and by the way Microsoft isn't even a "secondary" PC distributer of Fallout: New Vegas. They get a whopping $0 of New Vegas' sales on the PC

The reason it won't be offered on PC is because Microsoft payed for DLC exclusivity to the XBOX360, because they get money every time DLC is sold on the XBOX360. Understand?

Why would they pay for exclusivity if it is still going to be released on PC, draining XBOX360 DLC sales and giving them a whopping $0 from PC DLC sales.

Ya with me? :)

EDIT: And please don't say things like "Windows is what New Vegas is played on so PC will still get DLC" because thats absolute hogwash. New Vegas is NOT a selling point for a $400 Operating System, the Operating system itself is.

And once more - They get $0 commission on PC DLC sales this time around. Why would they pay for exclusivity if it was going to be released on the PC..

I wouldn't mind the DLC be exclusive to the GOTY as far as the PC is concerned I just hope that the GOTY is more forgiving to the broadband excluded demographic & not take hundreds of megs of download to be able to play it.

Ok then just to be fair, as in you've asked other posters. Show us proof, one official statement that clearly states that PC users will not at any point have access to the DLC.

Never once did I claim to have "proof" or that it was "confirmed" that New Vegas will not be getting DLC on PC.

If you think I did please go re-read my original post as you have misread something.

Bethesda wouldn't just "forget" about PC DLC and accidently leave it out of their statements to the gaming media. They have done it on purpose, obviously they aren't going to come out and say "Oh sorry guys, no PC DLC this time around" because they know what kind of anger that would incite from the PC community.

To quote a Bethesda rep who posted on these forums about a week ago "We prefer to stay quiet in these sort of matters where saying anything could get us into more strife with the community"(On the patching issues)

It's to early to tell. I say wait 2 months. And then maybe we can tell Bethesda what we feel. But It is unlikely they will not release them for PC.
I know Bethesda would do the right thing, for the fans! :)

I sure hope pc will get the dlc.. then again, it wouldnt be the first time a console gets exlusive dlcs. PS3 owners got the betrayal of jimmy for example. If they care about the pc crowd(that made them what they are) they will release the dlc for pc.
