Fallout New Vegas is still way too buggy

Post » Sun May 29, 2011 1:10 am

I've been very frustrated playing FONV on the Xbox 360. I've never experienced a more buggy game in my life. I stopped playing it waiting for the latest patch (the one that came out in December) and it still svcks. After updating to the latest patch I couldn't complete "Beyond the Beef" following the path I wanted. I can't finish "I put a spell on you" because Boyd is locked in the interrogation room and now I can't complete "Return to Sender" because the chief never broadcasts his final message. (The door closes and nothing happens.)

I was a huge fan of FO3 and looked forward to FONV, but I'm done with this game. I'll also won't be purchasing any other Bethesda/Obsidian games. Thanks for wasting my money and more importantly, my time. Great job on damaging the reputation of a popular franchise.

P.S. - I tried the LB/RB/X while booting the game up and clearing the Xbox 360 system cache via the dashboard and neither of those methods helped at all. I'm very disappointed in this game! Now, I'm off to write a bad review on Amazon and any other sites I can find.

Yep...same here. I loved FO3 and played through 3 seperate times. but I have to say that FNV has left a bad taste in my mouth and decided to trade it in. I got a whopping $19.80 for it which tells me it isn't doing so well in sales. Oh well maybe I'll try again when the GOTY edition comes out and contains all the patches. Until then I think I'll stay away from Bethes"duh" and Ob"serdion" for a while until they clean up their act.

Simple question: did you start a new game after the patch, or did you continued an existing game?

If you cleared the system cache then that would have erased the patches.
I know it's a pain, but you may have to completely uninstall it and try again!

so, let me get this straight..... We are going to have to keep uninstalling our games, deleting all saved games, and clearing the cache files ever time a new patch comes in to get them to work right? Thats ridiculous!

I have given up on New Vegas. i loved Fallout 1,2, and 3 and figured this game would be amazing but i have had to restart this game from the beginning 9 times 3 of which times i'm deep into the game after it being unplayable it will either freeze on the loading screen or after a couple steps of loading i had to reset my Xbox 25 times in about n hour i'm disappointed i will watch out next time obsidian makes a game. and hope no game is ever this bad

I am really amazed no from Beth/Obs has stepped in to say anything. It really shocks me that they would treat thier player base like this.

It is advised to start a new game after downloading the latest patch that was released in december. Also, resetting the cache from system menu is more trouble than its worth....simply reset it when hame starts to boot and keep buttons held in simultaneously. This won't fix quest glitches, but should help with load times and stuttering issues. I'm not saying the last patch was perfect, because it did add a vats freezing issue with me, but it did fix a good deal of quest issues and general gameplay issues for me

I've noticed far more NPC glitches since the patch, like NPCs hovering in the air, getting stuck in rocks or furniture, and running into walls.

I started up a second playthrough after the patch. My game freezes nearly every 20 minutes. I can play for a couple of hours without it freezing on my first playthrough. Makes me think that whatever was in the patch made things worse. I never messed around with caches or uninstalls/reinstalls.
