Falmer are special vampires

Post » Thu Jun 14, 2012 7:41 am

The new patch files indicate that Dawnguard has a lot to do with both vampires and the Snow Elf Prince.

My theory: The Falmer are a special type of vampire (look at them!). The Snow Elf Prince would be the strongest, as he was supposedly equal to 100 nord warriors. When they took him down they gave him a nord burial. That means he's in a barrow. One of the patch files has a "coffin puzzle" and there are some coffin animations in there too. I bet the Nords didnt fully kill him, but sealed him away instead.

Why would the falmer be vampires you ask? After the Dwemer betrayed them, they escaped into the caves, starting the War of the Crag. Perhaps they made a pact with Molag Bal or some other Prince to hellp them win this war. They were underground 100% of the time, so vampirism would be 100% bonus. They would have to be special type though, seeing as they don't transmit the disease, and there wouldnt be much blood in the caves.

You can help refine this theory, seeing as the Snow Elf Prince was sealed away before the War of the Crag. Obviously there are holes in my theory.

Theory 2: The Snow Elf Prince is a vampire lord but now all Falmer are vamps. (I might add more later but kinda busy right now)

Wouldn't they give you vampirism as well?

Yes, unless it's a hereditary strain of vampirism. Not out of bounds I would say.

This really. If they don't give you vampirism, I doubt they are vampires

The Falmer might be like Radu from the Subspecies movies. They are addicted to a bloodstone that looks comically like a push pop for goths. They could just be constantly frenzied blue things that we assume are Falmer. Maybe they just so happen to have or had many blood rituals. And did things brutal Mayan style... Or maybe I'm talking out of my butt.

Or it's a hereditary strain. Hereditary means its passed on from one generation to the next. Maybe they can reproduce, but they don't pass the disease through biting. They sure as hell look like vampires. They only come to the surface at night time. It makes so much sense I blew my own mind.

Actually the whole "Falmer are vamps" comes from a thread in the Lore forum quite a while ago, but it totally fits with what we know of Dawnguard DLC.

Interesting but nah i don't think they're vampires but they can probably become vampires like any other race and maybe snow prince somehow came to be inflicted is more realistic since vampires isn't really a race, vampires is just people who became diseseased and thus transformed.

Vampirism is a divine disease that started when Molag Bal had surprise six with a Nord woman. There are many types of Vampirism. What if they made a pact with Molag Bal that allowed them to reproduce? There are multiple way this could be played out that the Falmer race are all Vamps and have their own strain.

I think its just adding some Vampire stuff, with the Snow Elf stuff

I doubt Crossbows have a pivotal role with it all, and theyre being added

The Vampire stuff is just a nice addition to the Snow Elf aspect

Good theory! I am guessing these icy Snow Elves(Falmer) only venture out at night to attack people who venture near their caves, or even living under remote lakes where they drag people under. People seeing them as gangrel, hunchbacked bat-faced creatures relate them to vampires, not blind elves betrayed by the Dwemer. Falmer are the Volkihar!

Or maybe I'm wrong.

You were a part of the discussion that related Vampires to Falmer right?

Well, Falmers do drop almost as much vampire dust as vampires ...

Though they could of course just be carrying them as an ingredient. Or, maybe they have a special version of the disease that can not be catched by other races.

This thread clearly would have been far more appropriate in the lore forums.

Oh really I wasn't aware.

You do realize that they make up more lore as they create new content right? They've pulled stuff like this before. As long as it doesnt directly contradict something that's been established (sometimes it does actually) then they usually just write new stuff in.

Have you heard of the Shivering Isles expansion?

Falmer aren't vampires. But falmer aren't necessarily immune to vampirism, are they?

I think its an interesting theory. Maybe dawnguard will feature vampire falmer we haven't seen before(because I can't really picture the current falmers being vampires)?

That would be horrible. I thought about it...and the idea is sort of meh. I mean, it takes away the uniqueness of the Snow Elves if they are made into vampires. Honestly though, I just want vampires to be unrelated to those things.

Falmer are just that. Falmer, snow elves.

After they were defeated by the Nord, they were driven underground.
They were then enslaved and poisoned by the Dwemer, resulting in their current goblin-esque appearance.
