Is it just me, or the Falmer do a LOT of damage, especially to a character without armour. Even with Alteration defense spells active they always seem to be able to kill me quickly, and I have to drink a lot of healing potions to even stand a chance against them. My character is Level 15 and focuses on Destruction, Restoration and One Handed (for backup).

1-H is not a great backup for a character without armor. I would add Illusion or Conjuration.

Nope, it's not you. Falmer and Foresworn can easily swarm Mages due to Destruction being so gimped. Mages have no effective offensive capability in the craft. Conjuration is overpowered, but watching the AI duke it out is not really playing the game. Bethesda fubar'd the Mage's game mechanics and with Spellmaking missing there is no way for the player to fix the problem with their own ingenuity.
