Looks really nice and well done, but fix that tree in screenshot 5. It's floating in mid air

I seem to remember from old comments on the Oblivion or Fallout forums that Bethesda don't head-hunt modders - but they do advertise job openings on Bethblog. Alexander's portfolio of mods would make for a stand-out CV !

Falskaar looks like it's going to be absolutely amazing ! I am so looking forward to this. Thanks Alexander!

Tell that to OOO - it was Obsidian, but for FO:NV

I did. Other than a few improv lines here and there, I wrote every single line of dialogue in the mod.

Why? :ninja:

Looks very good

The voice acting is fine, accents were much stronger in Europe pre invention of fast travel, and printing press due to much less contact with other so people had strong accents, that does mean of course they should all have strong accents but you are working with limited means- Bethedsa don`t do any better and they have much greater means - its all voice acted and thats enough for me.

As re you getting a job with Bethedsa - your main aim - I feel you must be catching their attention now ( you are one of the most skillfull modders - perhaps the most - I have seen ) and certainly with the release of this, you are showing GREAT skill and determination - keep going nothing is certain but listening to Todd Howard speak ( and how he got to work at Beth himself) he is a clever man and thus will see this work as showing someone who would be a real asset to the company. - Steve

I know this is a trailer bu the dialogue wasn't very good. It was cliched in a bad way and didn't present itself dramatically enough for the viewer to be sold on the whole thing.
I commend you for the idea of making an emotinal investment but over all the trailer dragged because of it. The itself functioned quite nicely.
you have to consider what the skyrim engine can and can't do regarding dialogue, is there a hugging animation or some such that can reinforce what your goal is? Also you need to revise the kid's dialogue. That was probably the worst.

Mod looks good though keep up the good work.

I have to agree about the guy's voice. I know intonation is different in different languages, and I can't fault the accent, but it seems the stress isn't being placed on the right syllables. It sounds a bit like synthetic speech, all the words spoken separately and cut together to form sentences. It ruins the flow, and makes it impossible to concentrate on what he is saying. Also, I think the VA is trying a little too hard to make his voice sound rich and plummy. That might be fine for a dramatic speech, to a crowd, but when speaking to his family, it makes him sound awkward, and it reduces the feeling of a connection between them, rather than the tender moment it could have been.

And, I've always disliked the over-american children in the vanilla game. How do they grow up with an accent like that, and then suddenly turn totally different? In previous TES games, Nords sounded american as advlts too, so it wasn't an issue...
For that matter, there's a lot of VA choices in Skyrim that I think are regrettable. What's up with the pseudo-Cockney Dunmer? You could respect them in Morrowind. And the inexplicably Irish Imperial in the opening scenes of the game?
If I said your voice actors did as well as those in the original game, it wouldn't be the compliment it might seem, but it's certainly not bad. If they work on making the emotions and relationships seem genuine, and maybe a little broader emotional depth for the main guy (less monotone, more flow, and dramatic pauses where appropriate), it'll be excellent. The kid is less of an issue, as it's in the original game (perhaps puberty is more dramatic in Tamriel?), although it'd be a nice opportunity to improve where the original fell down. Great potential in the VA, but for me, that take wouldn't make the final cut.

I like the look of the mod, and I think it's very ambitious, but I don't doubt it'll be finished, and be one of the best large mods to be finished for Skyrim. I'm picky, is all

[I'm English, and quite well-spoken, to give context to the previous. That doesn't mean I think people should sound like me (of course not!) but I know how the english language flows.]

edit: Actually, the man's speech after the kid speaks up is a lot better. It has more of an emotional feel, I like it. Treat my criticism as advice, based on my opinion, it's not intended to be derisory, but helping to make this achieve the mod's full potential. If you sound like a robot, people switch off.

I know. If I couldn't take people's critique, I wouldn't be putting stuff up on the internet. :D I see what you mean with a lot of that, but some of it is also his character. You must keep in mind I'm trying to characterize these people, so perhaps some of that is intentional? :ninja:

Also some of it has to do with how the trailer was shot. This was the most difficulty video that I've ever done, and I re-shot, and reordered every single clip at least 5 times. It was a very ambitious idea for a trailer, and it was a hell of a chore to get it to where it is. :P

Looks VERY good.!
Thanks.

I think it's fine , after all having a voice over dialogue for me is a plus , not an obligation for a quest , plus considering that none here is a pro hired actor then I find honestly all the lamentation about performances of acting quite silly ...
The accent to me looked heavy but well who cares may be that's how the character is supposed to sound so is fine ...

I didn't want to see reactive but you've said exactly what I'm thinking... A lot of the critique seems like it's there for the sake of critique. Now, of course, I accept it all and consider what people say when deciding things.

You, however, have hit the nail on the head. Both the incredible strength, and unique method of his accent was very much so intentional. We went through at least 10 accents before arriving at one that really worked for the character. He is doing exactly the accent that expresses the character model of Agnar. :)

Haha, of course! We don't know anything about these people yet, so we can't say that he sounds wrong. That said, if the trailer's to draw people in, you want them to think the best of you. if someone finds his voice annoying, then they might not give the mod the chance it deserves. Still, I'm overthinking things a bit.
And you're right. It's an ambitious trailer, and project, I wouldn't be so critical of an unvoiced mod because I know it's difficult to make it work.
Good luck, and get going! I can't wait to play!

I don't mind the voices, they are somewhat on par with the vanilla ones. Maybe the piano music might be a bit unfitting and melodramatic for such a Nordic setting. A barbarian choir in the background would probably resonate better with Mauri's deep voice.

Each NPC in this screenshot represents a voicetype in the mod: http://cloud.steampowered.com/ugc/558690946045755633/4505962C362E612AA36A9017AC1CDF8C97B2025B/

Oops, forgot to reply to this.

You're right. The piano doesn't fit a barbaric Nordic setting like Skyrim. But maybe my land isn't like Skyrim. Dun dun daaa! :P

well, we could just say this svcks and you svck and all mods svck because we can all do better of course!

but that dosnt happen....usually :P What people fail to remember is they arent the ones making a huge mod such as this. They should learn to respect the fact that there is a whole slew of more talented people working on this mod then they will ever be (in most cases anyway). Such is the internet though. No consequence for what you say or do, besides an occasional forum ban that is.

thanks for taking the time to improve the game though your mod AV, it looks great.
