Favorite Companion - and why!

Post » Wed Jun 06, 2012 12:27 am

Soooo, I've had Marcurio follow me for the last few days, and I've learned to love him. Not only is he one of the best followers I've had, but he also makes funny and interesting comments. What I like the most is that he has a strong personality

Which one/ones are your favorites?

Are you asking who our favorite "Companion" member is or who our favorite "follower" is?

Benor. Guy's a complete, big, dumb moron. I feel kind of sorry for him since they won't let him be a guard (which isn't a huge career aspiration to begin with) so I drag him along regularly. He's always getting into trouble - its almost like a comedy show.

Being the O.P. gave a for-hire follower as an example I would think its obvious.

I don't really use followers, but I do summon Lucien Lachance occasionaly. He surpises me sometimes with some interesting observations, like when you summon him in Solitude.

Oh sorry, I meant follower. Stupid me

Haha, I only took Benor with me once. He just felt way to ... clumsy. Dumb. Not that any follower is smart enough, but I get the feeling some are worse then others.

I sacrificed Benor to Boathiah!

Yeah, Other than using Lydia at the beginning of the game, I never use followers. They always get in the way. I don't know how many times she took an arrow to the back of the head because she would run out in front of me just as I released.

If we judge by time spent being followed, I'd say Mjoll. But due to her being incredibly annoying I say Cicero. When he talks, it's actually not boring life story-telling, but murderous plotting and pure insanity. Who wouldn't love that guy?
Also, he's pretty good in combat. But I'm currently using Mjoll for I-don't-even-know what. I guess I'll ditch her when she really starts boring me.

Edit: Mjoll's gone, yipee.

I have'nt had them all yet.

I like Bahdruk Steel-Hearted the female orc.
And Iona and Jondis Shield-Maiden. They don't sound as grumpy and don't get in the way as much as Lydia.
Stenvorr is good.
Illia is good. She is a twirling ice wielding dynamo.
Unfortunately I have killed every single follower I have ever had and had to reload because they walked into the magic or weapons.
Bahdruk bugged out and got hit by lightening pointed at the exact opposite side of the room. She tried to mellee distance enemies and shoot mellee ones. She stood there holding her bow going ow, ow, ow as a skeleton hit her. She died repeatedly. I sent her back.
Lydia constantly walks into your attacks.
Iona and Jondis are a bit stronger.
Stenvorr is good and a strong and less likely to walk into your attacks.
Illia I accidently blew up with a combined fireball and chained lightening.
Ice mages, not strong aginst fire and lightening.

I wish there was a Sten or Shale(Dragon Age Origins) like follower who did'nt die from 2 hits. :(

I liked Lydia, just because she was the first follower I had and probably the one I spent the most time with, but I ended up giving her to the blades on both my characters (same with Marcucio). I think there's something about the first time you get something that makes it seem better than it actually is.

LYDIA
- You always remember your first. :blush2:
- Its grimly satisfying to hear her sarcastic "I'm SWORN to carry your burdens ". Complain all you like... you and I both know you'll carry all these dragon bones all the way back to Whiterun.

KHARJO
- Because honestly... who doesn't like the Khajit accent?
- Because he doesn't speak much unless spoken to.
- Because even after months of marching all around Skyrim, he STILL thinks that this time I'm going to take him somewhere warm. Just makes me want to ruffle the fur on his head and give him some catnip.

SVEN
- I help him keep his girl, and he follows me to death's door as often as I ask. Camilla must be something!
- A bard should have something to sing about (besides Camilla).

Jenassa - She sneaks as well as any of my characters and is deadly with a bow. I love just having her hang back and give arrow support. I also love her quotes, so of the best.

Does anyone find Mjoll the Skyrim equivalent of the girl from American Pie?

Mjoll, for me. Two hundred pounds (plus armour) of fighting strength and an attitude to match. To be sure she rabbits on endlessly (but then after three decades of married life in the real world I know how to creatively ignore a woman wittering on without exploiting the, "Yes, dear" glitch), and she can't sneak worth a damn, but give her some good kit, keep her stats up and she will cheerfully take down most things down without assistance. This evening I watched her slaughter three Draugr Deathlords one after another without breaking into a sweat (two hits each).

I found a follower who works properly. My new favourite. :D

Vorstag. He does'nt walk straight into my attacks, he uses the right weapon for the right things and he keeps a proper fighting distance, not too close, not too far. And he is handsome. :) He says show what you've got when you give him stuff, not complaining, and he wears and uses the stuff you give him. He says good things.
I only killed him twice by accident by thinking he was a enemy in battle rage. Not from him walking straight into my attacks.
Unlike every other follower so far.

Shame you can't marry him. He is very handsome, lol.

Shame some of them don't work like that. How they are supposed to.

J'zargo - This guy is a complete legend. His cockiness makes him cooler. And Khajiit's are the superior race. ;)
Kharjo - He reminds me of my 14 year old cat in real life. Cute Kharjo!
Cicero - Can't help but laugh when you're sneaking up behind someone to slit their throat and you hear: "Let's KILL SOMEONE! :D" from behind you.
Aela - hothothothothot

And that's basically it. I wish I could add another floor to Proudspire Manor, and keep these 4 on that floor for ease-of-access!

Derkeethus.

One: He can never die.
Two: I got him so suit-up that he kills Frost Dragons on his own!

Best companions got be Eola for me, tried a few, found mages seem the best in combat.... Mercurio etc. But found Eola i think in Markarth.
Shes got a bosh white eye but get her Forswarn gear and enchant it with conjuration and 1 handed. She'll look a babe and kick ass... even helm changes to womans headress looks class. check her out
