Mysterious Magnum. I like the music it makes when you draw it. Plus it's engraved and pretty.

I'm not too worried about huge damage; as long as it does the job, you know? I wander around with a Trail Carbine and a modded 10 mm pistol. I just like them.
Lately, I've been grabbing Chance's Knife and Love & Hate as soon as I'm able, for close quarters. Both are pretty effective at low skill levels.

Ratslayer. Not an endgame gun, but it's there for you when you need it most- at low levels. Surprisingly powerful, too.

I like the YCS/186, but that "600 MF Cells" of yours won't last too long, in order to not worry about wasting ammo, you need to have 2500+ MF Cells, which I have.

I dont wander around the wasteland killing everything in sight, and if I do get attacked I make my companions do all the work, or switch to a better gun as the gauss rifle is only useful against heavy duty stuff, not Strip Shootouts.

Anyway, how did you get 2500 MF Cells? Good Lord! You didn't #choke# buy them did you?!?!?!

Generally, I found myself using the Hunting Rifle more than anything else, but I will be honest.... When it came to bloatflies (for one reason or another) I loved using the Laser Pistol.

Nope purely aesthetics.

Its kind of a crap gun anyways, somebody really screwed the pooch on giving that thing so much spread. Its a freaking BAR it shouldn't be inaccurate, it fires a powerful round from a long barrel it should be a tack driver.

Yeah me too, my favorite in game gun is the Police Pistol from Dead Money.

As for real life my XDM is my favorite.

A silenced Sniper Rifle. Nothing fancy.

But really I like all of the weapons in the Guns category. If it's a gun in New Vegas, it's a good bet I've used it to kill a LOT of [censored].

The BAR was NOT a tack driver. An automatic rifle in that caliber cannot possibly be a tack driver, for the simple reason that it kicks like a mule. It was mainly used for suppression fire on the move- not to destroy targets with accurate fire, but to force the enemies to keep their heads down while US troops were advancing or retreating.

I liked the silenced Sniper Rifle on my first playthrough. Got annoyed with it on my second. The thing degrades VERY fast, and even with Jury Rigging the only cheap weapon that can repair it is the Service Rifle that's rather rare in the game.

I like the Granade Machinegun with that mod that tripples it fire rate better, and ammunition for Mercy is pretty rare.

that is exactly what i use it for, fire at the little legion svck ups to make them find cover, nade the cover, then finish them off with a pistol

anyway, i also like "this machine" reminds me of my favorite WW2 gun

The BAR isn't any less inherently accurate than any other [gas operated] rifle when fired with single shots. I'm guessing its accuracy isn't all that good with single shots (I've only used it up close)?

Anyway, mine is the Alien Blaster. Been my favorite since Fallout (I like the purple bolts and the "charred skin" death scene from Fallout way better though). I think its power is offset by its ammunition availability in New Vegas [and Fallout 3], unlike the...near limitless death you can cause in Fallout 1/2.

I'd like to mention the Pulse Gun for being an interesting concept, albeit it's a little too powerful for such a small gun in my mind (anti-mechanical being a very big point of warfare in the Fallout universe IMO, and it was kinda neglected in the previous games, barring grenades/mines).

The BAR is accurate when fired in short bursts and single shots, it is select fire between semi and fully automatic. It has a 24 inch barrel, fires a powerful round that shoots straight, and the gun has a maximum effective range of over 500 yards...so not to be a jerk but you're simply wrong, the spread in NV is total BS even when fired in short bursts the gun can't hit anything 60 feet away (20 yards).
