Favorite places in NV?

Post » Sun Mar 06, 2011 9:57 am

What are your favorite Fallout:NV places? There's alot to complain about this game, lets discuss some of the good stuff.

Me:

REPCONN - Loved the quest, the quirkiness of it, and all the ways it can be completed. Jumping out of my skin a couple of times in the basemant from sudden Nightkin attacks. I also really liked how it looked.

Outer Vegas - I really just enjoy going there and hunting Fiends. Has a great destroyed urban feel.

Nipton - Really dark, gritty. Great introduction to the Legion.

Vault 34 - Freaky.

Lucky 38 - Love the design. Just wish it was open for gambling!

Freeside - Really grungy and sleezy. Several interesting characters in this area.

Nellis AFB - Good story. Loved the Boomers. Loved the size of it.

Red Rock canyon always impresses me with its beauty, as does Jacobstown. The thin about both areas is their inherent difference from the rest of the Mojave. You actually feel like you're in a different locale.

But, my all-time favorite area...is the little Scavenger's platform floating on the big lake. It's so cozy, once you've thrown all the Lakelurks overboard.

Jacobstown is my favourite. Shame you can't purchase a house there with all the suite equipment.

After reading the comic that came with the CE version. I loved that I have found two areas that are represented in the comic. Chances map and his grave.

I would put spoilers around that but I have no clue how to.

Also the cocktail lounge in Luck 38. I like the creepy ambient sound. Also has anyone noticed that friendlies show up on the compass, but are no where to be found. That creeped me the hell out.
Also the Lux they are such refined gentlemen lol

- Jacobstown simply for the completely fresh change from the rest of the Wasteland. On the snowy, grassy, evergeen roads leading up to the cabin-esque town, it felt like I was playing ESIV all over again.
- The Strip (at night) for obvious reasons. The awe-inspiring lights and casinos make for a great place to be.
Spoiler
- Vault 11's sacrificial chamber simply for the atmosphere and tension it creates - not to mention it's brief but compelling backstory.

Oh I forgot one:
Broc Flower Cave - Just for the laughs with WW trait.

I was looking forward to Jacobstown but:
I felt that part of the map was underdeveloped in terms of quests/characters/buildings. There's just the one lodge and it's not very interesting. Not to mention the "mountains" around jacobstown were too round. Kinda dissapointed with it really. Soz if this lessens anyone's appeal for the place.

The same lodge in Camp Golf =.=

I think they forgot about it until they realize it is tied to 3 companion......

The Ultra-Lux Casino - I walked in and was like... Dayyyymn. This place is all clean and pretty.

Jacobstown - A friendly town of super mutants in the serene mountains outside New Vegas. Marcus knows how to live.

The ridge to the NW of Cottonwood Cove - Simply because I can sit up there with an Anti-Materiel Rifle and enjoy the pink mist without interruption.

I like Jacobstown too, and the way Mr. New Vegas references it on the radio. "Do not, I repeat, do not belittle a super mutant for taking the bunny slope."

Black Mountain radio tower. I loves Tabitha and Rhonda.

Vault 11 was superb.

Vault 34 was pretty awesome and creepy.

OK, I liked all of the vaults because they were so unique in design as well as content unlike FO3's which just had different content.

The Cazadore cave.... almost crap myself when the end boss jumped me.

The Quarry just because I liked to watch the litter of babies following mama around.

Nipton shocked me the first time.

I liked the outpost with the lake lurks.

Ultra-lux was pretty sweet.

Lucky 38 made me nervous even without the creepy music.

The artillery range was fun.

Wandering around inside the dam made me feel insignificant. I wish there was a dungeon like it.

Mr. House's chamber.

I would have liked the Thorn if I could pick to fight stronger opponents.

there are probably more, but that is off the top of my head.

All the vaults are well done in this game, especially compared to FO3. Was annoyed when I had to visit them for quests but pleasantly surprised they were all fun to explore. Especially vault 11 and it's sacrificial chamber! The Vault with the ghouls in it was creepy. The real Mr. House gave me nightmares

I don't know if it was a glitch, but I was walking by a dead radscorpion and out came a giant ant. I nearly peed myself but it was pretty neat. Same thing in Nipton when the cage of bark scorpions opened up.

I really love how the game switches atmosphere when you start approaching Vegas. The change to the more urban feel is great (like someone mentioned, with the fiends outside the walls) and then Freeside with its awesome slum-like feel. And when you finally enter the Strip and run around there a bit, your pip-boy will be overloaded with quests from Freeside and the Strip.

Searchlight was pretty creepy and reminded me of Necropolis for some reason. Probably because I found the way the ghouls were sorta clumped together reminiscent of the ghouls on the Necropolis surface.
