Favourite companion.

Post » Sat Jun 16, 2012 2:53 pm

So, I'm currently in the market for a new companion. Lydia was murdered by some forswarn, Benor met his fate against Krosis and Sven lasted mere minutes until I came across a dragon. I hated him anyway because every time I fast travelled, he would start playing his flute when we arrived and would not stop until I spoke to him. He was wearing full Dwaren armour and looked like a flute-playing power ranger. Eurgh.

So, can anyone recommend another follower? Also, who do you have following you and who is your favourite?

I know of one more that is waiting in the wings ready to help me, but he is a mage and I would rather have a warrior I think. Although any siggestions are welcome.

Cheers :)

Faendal was my best friend. I thought he was immortal. Until I killed him and didn't realise I was looting his dead body, then I started recognizing the gear. That was a sad day. Then I found Jenassa, a Dark Elf. Can't remember where I found her but she almost died too so I set her free (I plan on marrying her one day as she was continuously telling me how happy she was that we had met). Now I have that angry woman who wasn't aloud in the Companions, Ulfer or something? she is in the pub at Whiterun, I quite like her, I use her as a tank (I'm a sneaky bow and arrow sort of person).

Lydia died in the ruins of Mzuft.

I got a new companion ( a priest, dunno his name yet) in dawnstar as I was doing the side quest where you have to stop the nightmares. Heading towards laborythinian now to continue the Wintherhold college quests.

His name is Erandur, and I'm using him too.

I'm trying to figure out how equipping works. I can unload all the armors in the world into his inventory but he persists in wearing his robe until I give him a helmet. Once he's got a helmet he'll wear the highest armor rating stuff you give him. I assumed he was a priest, but he wears heavy armor if you give it to him. Gave him a Staff of Fireballs to work with and now my only challenge is getting a hit in before he nukes things to death.

There is an orc stronghold near markarth called dushnik yal. There is a brutish fellow swinging an axe. I picked him up a couple days ago. That's who I'd recomend for a warrior type companion. He is what death looks like to your enemies. But also, as far as mages go, I'd actually recommend J'zargo. He never let me down once. He is one of your peers at the college of winterhold. I just parted ways with him in effort to get a warrior type companion like yourself.

Followers don't level, apparently. So it makes sense to switch to a new one every few levels (their level is set when you first enter their area? something like that).

Haha some friend you are xD

"Hmmm whos this wood elf cor... oooh shinies!"

EDIT: Im using Jenessa. Not sure if companions scale with difficulty, but playing on master and she runs in face to face with those snow cats (Which one shots me with my 130HP) and dual wields their face in.

Pretty much this. You'll have to upgrade, as it were, several times during the game if you want them to stay useful.

Mjoll the Lioness from Riften is my faithful 2handed death machine of a companion. The only downside is she talks way too much about her good ol' days.

This is wrong. The guide is wrong. You can check in game for yourself with the console. They level up but their stats never increase. The only thing that matters for followers it the level you are when you first meet. I'm sure it's a bug, but it's the reality of what we have now.

I've used a few, from mages to warriors, but my favorite is Borgakh the Steel Heart - orcish female you pick up at the western most Orc Camp.

I play a female orc myself, so Borgakh completes me. Two orc females rampaging across Skyrim!
