feel like a jerk?

Post » Tue Jun 05, 2012 8:09 am

Hello Fellow prisoners,

After doing the Legion quests for about 4 characters i decided to join the stormcloaks.the reason i always joined the Legion is because of some undieing sense of loyalty i have for the Septim emperors (even if they died out hundreds of years ago). so i was actually enjoying the stormcloak quests, until i got to the battle of whiterun. I enjoyed the attack but one i got to Dragonreach, i started to feel like a jerk. the way the Jarl looks at you and talks to you gives me sort of a "I thought we were friends, i trusted you" kinda vibe.

did this make anyone else feel like a complete Jackarse?

Yeah. I got that too. But, its the same as if you've chosen the other side as well. Made me feel like crap.

You don't exile Baalgruuf if you fight with the legion.

Or are you referring to killing Ulfric? It can feel pretty dikeish to kill him after all he's been through.

Yeah, when I first played, I sided with the Stormcloaks too. After that Baalgruuf moment, I deleted my character. "I expected better from you."

"So did I." *stabs self*

Thats what happend. Ulfric is still laying on the floor, his homie Fist whatever-his-name is also. The new Jarl is there, and all the other former Jarls are at the table and make me fee like crap all the time. They are like "What do you want DOG?" or "I have nothing to say to you" or "I hope a wild animal eats you" or something like that. They friggin HATE me.

I just cannot bring myself to side with the Stormcloaks, but killing Ulfric made me feel like a jerk. His body never despawned either, so I had to carry him away to a, hopefully, respectful corner for his resting place. At least he found out what it feels like to be shouted to death though. Some symmetry there.

Same here. Never really felt a need to joing the 'cloaks.

And it's wierd that they don't atleast cart away Ulfric's corpse. I heard Tullius is buried in the hall of the dead if you attack solitude.

Yeah Baalfruuf made me thane of Whiterun then I went and ran him out of town,it made me feel like a real heel.
Ruined that character for me,I never thought she would do such a thing.

War is not pretty, and civil war divides friends and brothers. In the end either Ulfric and Galmar or Rikke are forced to kill a friend, in fact. Balgruuf hates you, but he lives to nosh on honey nut treats in Solitude.

If you can't handle what war entails, don't join up. Milk drinkers to the back of the lines.

War not being pretty doesn't mean you can't feel bad about killing or turning on a friend.
Not feeling bad is just cold hearted Dark brotherhood stuff.

Same, regarding Baalgruuf. I might as well have taken a dump on his doorstep. On my Cloaks run I felt pretty bad about killing Legion soldiers and I stayed out of the last fight, didn't kill Rikke and refused to kill Tullius. I didn't feel nearly so bad about killing Stormcloaks. I'm not sure why that is. Didn't like Galmor Stonefist at all so I had no problem offing him and, well, Ulfric requests you kill him so I gave him a good death. I didn't feel great about it, but as he says, it'll make for a good song.

Balgruuf is the one who disappointed me. I expected him to be smart enough to side with the Stormcloaks, but in the end he turned out to be just another Nord with no backbone who just gives the Thalmor what they want.

When I was playing my Stormcloak character, I progressed to the point where Balgruuf surrendered. From that point on, whenever I passed through Solitude, I'd head on over to the Blue Palace's basemant and shout "looooooosers!"

And then Tullius says he's going to send their heads to Cyrodiil. That's what pissed me off so badly about the ending of the legion quest line. It just shows that it wasn't really about Nords fighting other Nords.

It's Nords lead by the Empire fighting Nords lead by another Nord with high speechcraft skill.

I'm not surprised they were going to mount their heads on pikes. That happend all the time in the middle ages.

Wars ugly, and rebellions are uglier.

My point is that if it were really a Nord vs Nord fight, the pikes would be in Solitude. It's Cyrodiil trying to subdue one of its provinces, whatever Rikke says, using the Thalmor to do it and then parading that fact in the Imperial City. Pfuh.

Come to think of it, we never get any information about what's going on in Cyrodill. Is it possible that they're as mad about the treaty as the Nords?

the stormcloaks are just as addicted to imperial coin, why do you think they're NPCs still take Septims instead of crafting their own currency?

Kinda' - I may not do the Civil War stuff on my 2nd character and she's more a jerk (TG and DB) than my 1st one.

Because they are "Septims" and not "Medes".

Actually yeah, I felt bad because of Balgruuf's words after invading his city. The only thing I fought through it is because I try to roleplay a very Stormcloak-minded Nord warrior there. Had I not been a proud Nord with a belief, I don't know what I would've done there. Sure, I felt bad out-of-character. But even my character felt bad! He knew Balgruuf beforehand because he had already been recognized as the Dragonborn, and he liked Balgruuf. His words were poison. :(

That's as far as I am in the Stormcloak questline, so I don't think I will be reading this topic much more.

Although I haven't done those quests yet, I figure there's a downside to each. Somehow I know about the battle of Whiterun and that just seems wrong. Then again the Imperials have their downsides too.

yes but they are called "Septims" after the Septim emperors. thereby making it IMPERIAL coin!

Right, but it's got a picture of a Nord on it so it's not as much of an affront. Plus, being made of gold they have actual value and aren't merely symbolic of value like most modern currency. :P
