Female Brink Characters

Post » Fri Jun 24, 2011 1:41 pm

I can't believe that there hasn't been a post about this ( correct me if I'm wrong ), have you ppl noticed that there's only mention of 3 women in THE ENTIRE GAME.
- Ishmael
- and 2 ladies in the audio logs
What do you ppl think? Should SD have put creatable female characters in the game?
Plz leave your opinions below...

Makes sense, at least with Resistance members, to have females on the front lines. Not all too sure about how Security is set up, and if they allow women to serve, however...

It would have been cool to see some ladies. I wouldn't want if to take away from any other aspects of development though. And majority of FPSes have male casts only. I feel like if people should get upset at this why in the world don't people get upset at CoD of BFBC2? There are actually women serving in the force....

I think there were posts about this long ago, but I'm too lazy to find them. I Think SD considered it, but it would have taken up too much resources and would have caused less customization options overall or something like that. I can probably see light or maybe medium female body types, but I'd imagine that it would be hard to make a heavy female body type look visually pleasing (or less awkward). Not to mention females generally tend to have smaller upper bodies too, so fair hit boxes have to be put into consideration.

I wouldn't mind seeing at least a light type female model as DLC. The only visual resemblance to females in this game are those few signs and ads on Resort.

Yes, but very few of them are actually on the front lines.

Well those games take place in an imaginary, but also very real war time situation and ppl might take offence to it... idk...
But Brink is completely made up and set in the future, without any female anything it gets a little hard for me to truly feel the setting of the ark...
I wish that at least SD would have put a few girls in the security and resistance oppening cutscenes. I've played BFBC1 before, I can't speak for the second, but in the 1st there is a women giving u the orders ( singleplayer )...
In conclusion I believe that other shooters have had more feminizm than Brink.

With the way war is today, the frontlines are blurred. They may not think they're on the frontlines but that doesn't mean that they can't be attacked, and when they are the women are trained for combat. It's been happening for a while. http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=14869648 a five parter.

The topic of "female characters" has actually been discussed to DEATH on both the SD and Beth forums.

Reason why you see very few threads on this is because this topic was covered pre-game. They couldn't add them because it would limit character customization options for males plus they would have to hirer female actors (for movement animations). They didn't want to just do it were they did the females at less quality at no expense for the males so they decided to not include them in game.

It was discussed before but ppl got a "tad" sixist when talking bout it and it got locked and is now forever lost to the annals of history or something to dat effect.

In BC2's defense, I'd say the Assault character cud totally be a female seeing as how the head is completely covered. Metroid anyone?

...but I'd imagine that it would be hard to make a heavy female body type look visually pleasing (or less awkward).

Again wit this argument which I wud like to politely and in a non-flaming way disagree with because what is with being visually pleasing (or less awkward)? Look at Male Heavy character we have. He's a heavy Heavy if you no what I mean when SD cud've offered a Dwight Howard Heavy instead of the Big Baby Glenn Davis Heavy we got. Also, the fact that we're suggesting that female players wud be offended by offering them our Queen, Latifah Heavy instead of Lucy "Xena Warrior Princess" Lawrence Heavy is offensive.

Just give the female equivalent of the Heavy and no one will complain. They shudn't.
