Female characters...?

Post » Wed May 30, 2012 6:18 am

So I never, ever play female characters for some reason. But I feel like it now, so I'm trying to make one. I svck.

Could I get some suggestions as to how to make them look.. good? Haha. If I'm going to play a female, might aswell play a good looking one. The ones I come up with look alright, but comparing them to some made by other players they look like bushpigs.

Also, weight wise, I cba making a char like 5 times to compare the weights properly (doesnt show it very well at the start), what looks good for a female?

Mine's a Bosmer, the standard but with minor face mods, black lipstick, and war paint. She looks like a deranged Romulan. So...I can't be of much help. Unless you find Romulan chicks hot. Then go for a Bosmer.

I like the first imperial preset. With minor changes, she looks great. On my warrior woman, I put weight all the way up.

The weight just controls your characters "thickness," in a sense. So, it doesn't really make much difference, in the grand scheme of things. If you want to be skinnier, set weight lower, if you want to be thicker, set weight higher. You'll be pretty much the same, proportion-wise, regardless. In terms of making a good looking character... If you don't do well with customizing your own, I'd suggest playing as a nord and just picking one of the better looking presets and going from there. Without mods, they seem to be the easiest to make look attractive (IMO).

Considering just making a spadeface too.

If your understanding of looking good is the same as me, try making a Breton that looks like http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Muiri

never bothered with making a female in Skyrim yet, though. Gotta try some time

EDIT: Sheet, wrong race. Should've been Breton

I've have both a female nord and dark elf, some races do look better with full weight, some not so much.

Pick a preset you like and just FINE tune certain things like cheek bone, jaw, anything to drastic will make your toon look like a $50 she-male

Since people keep mentioning bosmers. Might I throw out that making an attractive female elf is definitely much more difficult than any other race. Especially without mods. And if you did pick one, I think Altmer would be the easiest choice.

Yeah, thats how it seemed to mee too I guess. Meh I guess I'll stick close to a preset, or spend like 3 hours trying to make it perfect. Haven't decided yet.

A bosmer that looks like her? I guess that would be an interesting challange =)

Yeah, I noticed that my character started picking up more and more masculen features as I tried harder and harder to get rid of them Haha.

I did see one guy on the 'show us your character' thread who had an extremely good looking bosmer. Like almost actually attractive irl haha. It was half the reason I wanted to make a female char. But yeh they look slightly odd to begin with, it would be difficuilt to say the least.

Wrong race, should've been Breton (I forgot as they both start with "B"), should be a lot easier to achieve the same result, but I won't bar you if you try. just make sure you screenshot all the settings when you did it :D

What helped me in figuring out how to make a character look good was to take a photo of someone and put it up next to the character creation screen. Helped me figure out what combinations actually looked good rather than "looked good at the time".

Make a Nord, pick preset two. Change the skin color to slightly darker and the shade of the lips to something different from purple.
Change eyecolor, eyebrows, haircolor and hairstyle to taste, or leave as is. I find the lips too big so I move the slider to the second setting for mouth shape and then move the mouth slightly upwards.
Move the slider for the upper cheek color 1 to the right, and for the one for lower cheek all the way to the left so it's plain.
Make the nose slightly shorter.
If you made her skintone a lot darker you might want to move the chin color 1 since it can look oddly pale.
If you find her jaw too strong, move the jaw width slider slightly to the left, and make her chin slightly thinner too.
Add scars and woad to taste.

The secret is to move sliders only slightly. Make sure the face stays in proportion, having eyes or mouth too high or too low looks unnatural.

Color and tone helps a lot as well. Dark hair with blue eyes for example can make a striking look. Experiment with different hair colors and eye colors until you find a setting you like.
