A few ideas for the next..

Post » Tue May 10, 2011 3:38 pm

I'm not a reviewer, i'm just a dude playin a video game.. right or wrong, this is how i feel..

Great story but I was really hoping to see atmospheres and characters feel a bit more real.. you know.

Like the dudes who made Assasins Creed and the New, Need for Speed Hot Pursuit. everything feels so real.. it's the little details that shows they enjoyed making it.. we live in a very cool time right now. [censored] is starting to look crazy cool.

a few ideas:
1. better overall atmosphere-- fog, textures, wind, hair - Mr. House was cool, great job -- but everything else feels a bit 2005.
2. make the dude look like he's actually running/walking.
3. when i make someone wait, they should chilling out somewhere closeby waiting for me - not standing like a robot exactly where i told him - have him hanging out on a rock or something, i don't know.. somethin a real person would do.
4. when stopping from a run, real people don't just stop on a dime, people come out of a run when they start to walk.. i want more of a stutter step.
5, way cooler menu design -
6. cooler pause screen - animate it somehow
7. more detail in the pip and the arm.. i want to see texture, more shading, hair on the dudes arm, dirt, shadows from the atmosphere reflecting off it in places
8. i want to feel empathy for the characters - i feel nothing - i rarely read past the first three words of dialogue, i just don't care.
9. hair, drool, footsteps in the grass, blood dripping, realistic movements, actions, variability.. wind, water.. - there's is no part of this game that i am visually impressed with. - graphically, it looks straight up ps2..
10. a half-robot dog with it's brain sticking out - great idea, fail on the follow-through.
11. like right now, i'm on level 19 and looking at three NCR guys tied to crosses and left to die - should look waaaaaaaay cooler.
12. and where it has X) Talk NCR Trooper - i mean really.. at least try to design something interesting

i'm sure there's a bunch more but that's all i can think of right now.

i can't help it, i'm a bit disappointed - it just feels like they didn't care.. there's no heart, no attention to detail - the game was released with an insane amount of bugs -- so it make me think they would do anything to make the deadline which = money is more important than quality = a little disenchanting if that's where we're at in the gaming industry..

ugh.. this game had so much potential --

i'm sorry to come on here and [censored].. maybe i set my expectations to high.

i'm sure Beth did the best they could to deliver us a great game -

one other thought -- if Beth is going to display their logo that large on the screen, they might want to think about properly kerning the space between the characters.. it sorta looks like it was done by someone in the mail room.

with that said.. here's to continued quality in the gaming industry - i will remain hopeful that focus will always be on the gamer -- to give us the best post experience possible.

keep up the great work.

Do you really think they didn't try to make things cooler, I don't think they tryed to make the character look like a [censored] when the run. Also it's kinda hard to drastically change things when they are using a 5+ year old engine.

Cooler pause screen....really. I know when asking someone about a game, the coolness of the pause screen always comes up. I will be honest after that I quit reading.

haha - why do you guys care so much what i think? i'm just a dude with an opinion so i posted a few words on the interweb.. is it so bad for an individual to have a differing opinion than your own? i'm not saying i'm right.. but i wrote how i felt based on my own experiences -- individualism has been considered a good quality among some people.

yes, i want a cooler pause screen : ) - all it needs is a little sugar.. animate it slightly - like what COD does with the fog floating over the dudes hand.. it's the little things.

have a great night.

Welcome to the internet, where opinions are like [censored]s. If you can't handle people responding to your thoughts negatively, you should probably stay away from public forums. I mean did you expect some highfives were in order when you wrote that piece?

Maybe if you could expand on some of your points that would make it more pro discussion. Like, i'm not really sure how they can make crucifixion "cooler", care to explain further?

P.S Bethesda did not make it. Obsidian did.

The Crucifix cannot be made "cooler", It could only get more cruel.

I skimmed through the thread and saw the poster above my first post say something about making Crucifixtion cooler.

I thought he was talking to the OP.

Ignore that post. :spotted owl:

Sometimes graphics aren't the greatest in huge games such as fonv. The 100 and more hours of gameplay along with multiple routes and loads of customization takes center stage. That's how it should be in an rpg. Personally I don't care if someone on a cross looks cooler or if there's drool coming from their mouth. I learned that really good graphics doesn't always make the game usually by the hard way of spending 60 bucks for 15 hrs of good graphics.

Here's my opinion. Most of these things listed are unimportant to me. With RPGs, gameplay and story are paramount compared to graphics and all that jazz, which comes in a distance 5th place behind story, gameplay, challenge, and customization (in that order).

Also, your #11 is confusing to me. Should people who are crucified be on fire and spinning around or something? I'm unsure how a brutal execution method can be "cooler".
