A few new perks from PC Gamer

Post » Thu May 12, 2011 5:15 pm

Obsidian have sent PC Gamer an early look at a few of the new perks. Click http://www.pcgamer.com/2010/10/14/sneak-peek-at-new-perks-in-fallout-new-vegas/.

They are:

Slayer!
This perk increases the speed of all melee attacks by 30%, letting you wield anything from your bare fists to a golf club with ninja efficiency. The increased speed will be especially useful when fighting in VATS, letting you queue up more strikes on your opponents.

Spray ‘n Pray
This perk significantly reduces the damage of friendly fire, so you’ll be able to nuke an area without having to worry too much about the safety of your companions. This perk is even more useful in Fallout: New Vegas because the companions you recruit will themselves grant you extra perks.

Super Slam!
Another good perk for players who like to get up close and personal, taking Super Slam means unarmed and melee weapon attacks have a chance of knocking down your opponent, leaving them vulnerable to a further beating. This promises to be especially comical when fighting larger beasts such as Super Mutants, or their house-sized brethren the Super Mutant Behemoth. The bigger they are, the harder they fall.

I like Spray and Pray. I shot Dogmeat in the ass 95% of the time he was in combat.

"Spray ‘n Pray" - for when you've got an Enclave trooper lined up in your sights, and your follower insists on running in front of the scope and attacking first. (I hope they fixed that, seriously) lol

Spray and Pray sounds good to me. I hate it when I shoot my companion or other friendlies. Thanks.

I'm really loving all of the new melee perks. Shoveling raiders would have never been so much fun, if New Vegas had shovels.

I like the Slayer Perk as it increases your swing speed by 1/3. Spray and Pray for me is only going to be picked in hardcoe Mode

Spray and Pray makes me happy, since I planned on doing an explosives heavy character and using Veronica as a companion. I was worried she'd just be rushing enemies I'd throw grenades and whatnot at, and I'd end up accidentally murdering her.

Spray'n Pray seems to be aimed more for the HC mode, if it is true that that's the only way to get your followers actually killed.

I imagine they were being presumptuous.

I don't think the Behemoths will be in New Vegas I think they might have got that wrong.

I like all of the melee perk I've been seeing. Normally I'm a firearms type person, (in FO3 you almost had to be.), but with the new perks I'll have to try a melee type char.

Proof there are no behemoths from the official strategy guide:

Nightkin, Nightkin Sniper, Nightkin Master, Super Mutant, Super Mutant Brute and Super Mutant Master.

I hope they have a lore friendly reason for behemoths being included.

Otherwise those are some good new perks... SpraynPray looks immensely helpful.

Spray N' Pray seems like a really good perk for Explosive-tagged PC's in HCM.

There's no real evidence that they're returning. The author at PC Gamer made a reference to them in his comment about the perk...that's in no way an official confirmation that they're in. I'm hoping the guy from PC Gamer just threw that in there for no reason. I didn't like the Behemoths.

i dont see the point in spray and pray i thought if you accidentally shoot your teammate to the point that it does a nice chunk of damage they go ape [censored] and attack you what use will the perk have?

or was i wrong and your teammates in FO 3 never turned?

also behemoths dont make any sense at all because it was only the east coast mutants that could grow larger over time or did i read wrong?

Wouldn't it make it less likely to happen?

Nope...that's right, unless one walked across the country.

apparently from what i read on the wiki it was based on how many times you shot your teammate not how much damage you did to them sooo

I'm sure they tweaked things to make it work. I really doubt they'd just add a pointless perk without testing it.
