Im thinking of getting Hearthfire cuz of the autumn sales on Steam.

I have a few questions about it to be sure:

1. Can you build a house everywhere Skyrim? In how many holds can you build a house after purchasing land?

2. Can I adopt kids and move them into a house I own within a city?

3. Are there many types of houses I can build to reflect my characters? (for my assasin/thief I want something bigger than a shack, to serve as my hideout)

1. Can you build a house everywhere Skyrim? In how many holds can you build a house after purchasing land?
No. You can build in three predesignated spots. The ones in Falkreath and Morthal are quite attractive, haven't seen the one in the Pale.

2. Can I adopt kids and move them into a house I own within a city?
Yes. Just ask the jarl's steward to put a child's bedroom set in your house.

3. Are there many types of houses I can build to reflect my characters? (for my assasin/thief I want something bigger than a shack, to serve as my hideout)
The houses follow an essentailly preset design. But you can build anything from a small and simple house, to a vast sprawling fief. There are no themes, I'm afraid, to reflect either race or personality.
