o well welcome to the .0000001% supposedly who has issues.

Enjoy

Well, I've never had major issues and still haven't. I've had the odd CTD every now and then, but like I said, I save often. This might be the first graphical glitch I've seen.

@Gram: Have you verified the integrity of the local files? You do that by right clicking on Skyrim (in Steam), choose "Properties", click on the "Local files" tab and click on "Verify integrity of game cache ..." button.

Another thing, have tried going first person view?

I'll try that now.

Yep. Not sure what the problem is.

Perhaps you should talk to Mai'q, Dragons were always there, just invisible, or flying too high to see, (as you said, it's hard to see, so it flew real high,) and for when it's on the ground, it's invisible. Just like in Morrowind.

Okay, never did fix the issue. More shots of the fight:

And afterward, you can see the head of the dead and still mostly-invisible dragon:

Went on and played the game. Subsequent dragons looked fine. Not sure what the issue was there.

Greetings from Morrowind...
It was probably a bug where one of these named dragons appeared, and since they usually start somewhere under the earth, like the one in Blackreach for example, it appeared invisible. Try fighting other dragons, I think they should be visible.

Just ~ kill it

to me it only happens to 4 dragons (one of which was the blue texture) or fight it which is completely doable even if its a elder dragon (which 2 were sadly at the same time for me right outside of that mill near falkereth)

It would be interesting if a few dragons were intended to be "mostly" invisible. Too bad that doesn't seem to be the case.

The dragons all seem to use either fire or frost breath attacks. Why not shock, poison, wind, etc? They're all a bit too copy and paste.

Okay, figured it out. You can see the dragon Viinturuth in the middle as that mass of black stuff that is sort of outlining him. Not at all sure why he isn't fully rendered. None of the other dragons I've seen have this issue.

That looks  buddy.

I haven't downloaded 1.4 yet, but i had a embryo like Dragon once... real funny texture glitch.

This is now a common glitch in 1.4. After killing Viinturuth in the Main Quest he may respawn later in the game as an invisible Dragon. Without hacking into the game's files and fixing the issue yourself, there's nothing that can be done about it.

My advice? Just kill the dragon and forget about it. It can't be that hard to defeat.

Looks like a graphics driver glitch with the texture/render to me. Might be worth updating to the latest version or even trying out the latest beta drivers for your card.

There you go. Life Detect would make it easy to spot and kill the dragon without any further fuss.

It's weird enough, that's for sure. Plus, I just came out of a Dwemer ruin (Blackreach tower) and I heard this thing roar. He's named, but...

Spoiler
...but I didn't see Alduin raise him from the dead, nor did I hear Alduin speak, and this dragon hasn't spoken either, I don't think.

That sounds like the dragon that lives in Black reach.Try calling him while in black reach and see what happens.I can't post spoilers so youre gonna have to google secret dragon in black reach or look it up on ign.com but I'm pretty sure thats the dragon that lives in Black reach and he followed you out side.

The dragon is testing out a new invisibility spell called "Flip Normals" obviously.

I got attacked by an invisible dragon once just west of Windhelm. It was initially visible and I ran up a hill to engage. Then I lost track of it until I started getting hit by frost breath. It took me a few seconds to realize that I was indeed fighting an invisible dragon. I ended up just wading in sideways from the source of the frost and hacking away with Dragonbane and was actually able to kill it.
