films that remind you of Skyrim

Post » Fri Jun 22, 2012 2:14 pm

I was watching Sword of Xanten* last night and all the way through, I kept thinking of Skyrim. Especially when the luscious Queen of Iceland in her Nordic fur armor (played by the lovely Kristanna Loken) came into it.

Any one else got films that remind them of Skyrim in any way?

*Sword of Xanten: also called "Dark Kingdom: The Dragon King"

The 13th Warrior for the same reason. Vladmir Kulich plays Beowulf.

I did really like it - maybe not as much as 13th Warrior, (although I liked the novel of 13th warrior better). Bear in mind they did so much on a very small budget. I also really like Derek Jacoby and Brian Cox in it. It's a bit of a gritty film without anything too ridiculous and unrealistic. There's a minor plot point with the main character's horse which my husband and I both appreciated as well. Won't spoil it for you. :P

Game of Thrones. It's the way they call upon the Gods ("By the seven!") that really reminds me.

I watched the new(ish) Robin Hood with Russel Crowe, and Esbern Max Von Sydow kept making me giggle like a school girl.
Cant say the film was amazing. It was okay though. Not as good as Men In Tights though.

I loved this film about the ninth legion too.

The 2004 (roman) King Arthur also reminded me of this.

Iron Clad is a great film. Quite bloody and a true story of the siege on Rochester Castle. I'd love a Nord armor based on Templar armor

13th Warrior is one of my all time favourites. I had it on video when it came out and bought it again when dvd took over.

I love the Roman films like Gladiator, Centurion and other like the Eagle. I also imagine the Imperial army to be a bit like the legionaries.

The ancient Celts / Picts in films like Centurion, The Eagle and King Arthur remind me of the Forsworn and maybe a bit of how I imagine some of High Rock to be as well.

Another film that reminds me a bit of Skyrim is "Army of Valhalla"

Gladiator. That first battle in Germania really makes me think Imperial Legion vs Forsworn. Also the early bits of Kingdom of Heaven really struck some Skyrim chords with me as well.
