The problem is that the main quest line is scaled to the player.
Which leads to silly things as dragons being weaker than bears, and being able to defeat Alduin easily but running away from a generic deathlord.
The secondary problem is that the build-up just doesnt pay off.
The start at Helgen is magnificent, the story gets interesting from there and then.. just peters out.
As said above, you get to shout at fog, pick some flowers you can find anywhere else, and let some people you care nothing about fight a dragon.
Its really very anticlimactic.
I would have gladly waited another year for Skyrim if it had meant that this part, and many other parts of the game, didnt feel so damn rushed.
