Final Boss. . . No Loot?

Post » Mon Jun 04, 2012 5:10 am

So after much procrastination (level 42 with 100 hours played) I finally finished the main quest and beat Alduin, only to find that you get NO loot from him!! There is no chests or anything to loot at all in Sovengard (spelling?). This was very frustrating for me, usually at the final boss you get something awesome!! Also, he was easier to beat than the Draugr Deathlords!! Whats up with this? What are your opinions on this?

ya i was kinda annoyed that he didnt drop anything, i was hopeing for a sword, maby a helm, something good, i figure tho since the main quest is not very long and not to hard to beat beth didnt want to give the last boss anything crazy as it would make the rest of the playthrough too easy, and yes he was way to easy, havent tryed on master tho, maby hes a challenge then?.

edit: you do get dragon call, witch is soo damn deadly, and you can also summon that big nord guy, so they do give you something for beating the game.

Aw, come on.
You get to shout at fog, three times!
You get to watch NPCs who mean nothing to you defeat the main boss!
And you get to enjoy a lingering sense of deep dissatisfaction!
What are you complaining about? No loot? Who needs loot when you get all this?

Sovngarde in general could have used something...more, less a point about Alduin (although he should have been way more harder). I mean you can only go there ONCE, and that's it. The only really unique thing you experience is seeing some old, dead warriors in the Hall like Olaf One-eye. Cool, but nothing that to really keep in mind.

I totally agree, they did an awesome job designing the place, but then made it so shallow. . . u get to go there once and your only there for like 10 maybe 15 mins

Another thing is you never get to talk about Sovngarde with anyone after the quest, and no one really comments on it. Think about it....the place that is basically the Skyrim version of Valhalla. A glorious afterlife that no living being has witnessed with their own eyes for centuries and come back to the world to talk about it. Oh sure you can talk about the time you helped the East Empire trading company, or when you fetched a sword for a warrior, but no one is remotely curious about that epic adventure in itself???

Makes it seem all the less significant, as if it's no different then any other place you've stumbled into.

Once again, hardly enough to make me want to play the main quest again. . . guess I should be glad there is so much other things to do

You can pick the ox head in the hall of heroes. It's a nice piece to place in a fireplace/kitchen at home.

I don't understand why looting is so important to people. I would understand if it's difficult to raise enough cash to get a house or in a MMO for bragging rights but in Skyrim? I'd rather collect unique, useless artifacts like the insects in a jar or are ingredients to display.

If you aren't overencumbered by the time you get into Sovengarde then you allready missed all the good loot on the way in. ;)

It's a dragon... it's invading sovengard. Why would it be carrying any loot or have any chests there?

Honestly you guys have played too much WoW

They could have had Alduin drop The Gift of Kynareth, The Fists of Sir Randolf, or Hopesfire, and Trueflame. Then we could have posts about how they got in there.
I was hoping to get the Dragonbone Cuirass from Morrowind :ermm:

The problem is that the main quest line is scaled to the player.
Which leads to silly things as dragons being weaker than bears, and being able to defeat Alduin easily but running away from a generic deathlord.

The secondary problem is that the build-up just doesnt pay off.
The start at Helgen is magnificent, the story gets interesting from there and then.. just peters out.
As said above, you get to shout at fog, pick some flowers you can find anywhere else, and let some people you care nothing about fight a dragon.
Its really very anticlimactic.

I would have gladly waited another year for Skyrim if it had meant that this part, and many other parts of the game, didnt feel so damn rushed.

It's eating people that are wearing armor/weapons. I'm sure some of that would end up in Alduin's stomach.

11/11/12 just doesn't have that ring to it though. And we'd only be able to enjoy the game for a month and a half. ;)

You missed the Roasted Ox head then... It weights only 1 so you could have easily made some space for it in the inventory. What a shame!
