So I'm in the cave where I'm supposed to find King Olaf's verse for the Bard's College. I've gone the entire way through the cave, only to come to a small room where there is a dead person named Skavnir, and a ghost sitting next to him on a bench. Skavnir does not have the book I'm looking for, and the ghost won't interact with me whatsoever. I tried looking everywhere else but there is nowhere to go. There is a magically sealed door in one area but I can't get through it. I have no idea what to do. Is Skavnir supposed to have the book but it didn't spawn in my game or something? Any advice/help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

The book should be on Skavnir's body.

It's not on his body, and now I'm stuck in this pit because you have to fall down a hole in order to get down here. Unbelievable. My game is over isn't it? 70 hours down the drain. Is there some way to get the book to spawn on him on the 360 version? Otherwise it's game over. I can't believe this.

Oh thank God, I have a previous save I can load. Wow, that was close. So what do I do now though if the book didn't spawn on him? If I leave the place and come back in, do you think it will spawn?

Try looking around his body. I think it might spawn in his hands, or something like that.

The book is there.. I do not think it is on the body. Try looking where the ghost is sitting on bench, or inventory.

The book might have fallen under the body, try pulling it out of the way.

Thanks for all the help. Turns out I had to reload, because the first time I went there it didn't spawn in his hands. It was nowhere to be found and I was literally stuck there. Second time I reloaded it was there and I was able to progress. Thank God I had a backup save though, or else I would have just lost 70 hours of gameplay. Moral of the story is, keep multiple saves!!!

You have no idea the feeling I got when I thought I was stuck in that pit. Wow. My heart sank. I almost teared up. Ok, I didn't really almost tear up, but damn, I felt like a bomb had been dropped on me. I always make sure to keep an extra save before jumping down into pits that have no way back up, so I was lucky this time. Whew. I'm still a bit anxious from it.
