Finding a lair for your Vampire Lord

Post » Sat Jun 16, 2012 4:13 am

Is anyone else keeping an eye open for a dungeon they might like to use as a lair once they become a vampire lord?

I've been trying to find a good dungeon isolated enough that travelers wouldn't accidentally come across it but close enough to an open-world town so I can go and wreak havoc whenever I want. (open world so I can go on a killing spree without a loading screen and without killing too many quest givers)

I would go bleak falls barrow so I can go down to riverwood and make hadvars childhood fears come alive but I like everyone else in and I've done BFB so many times that I don't want to actually live in it haha. Perhaps something close to morthal, the foggy swamps would suit, or karthwasten. Gliding down from the upper peaks of the reach to rain death on hapless peasents sounds pretty fun.

How about you?

Vampire terrorising Morthal has already been done in the game. Winterhold would be neat. Stain the snow red, like in 30 days of Night.

There is a place in this waterfall. It's this abandoned prison where water had flooded and some ghost were in it. That is going to be my lair.

I have a lair. It's called Proudspire Manor. :P

If your looking for a lair like near Morthal as you mentioned you could just take a cave which may or may not belong to a vampire which may or may not be involved in a certain quest. :)

The shrine of Molag Bal seems pretty apt. Safe containers as well I think. :)

The abandoned house in Markarth. Because of the
Spoiler
Shrine of Molag Bal (Father of all Vampires)
, and I also like the idea of having legends spread about a haunted house, which nobody has returned from. I wish there was a mod that allowed you to make it a proper house after you complete it's quest. Benirus Manor in Oblivion at least made a good home after you've done it's quest, while the Markarth Abandoned House is always dirty and the chairs are always on the table.

Anise's Cabin.
Thanks for the list! That'll make deciding easier.

This one:

But it wasn't in the safe location list. Awww :(

My stuff won't be safe. Why? That is badass. Like a medieval batman cave.

They already give you a lair, it is that vampire castle.

By the way, a vampire terrorizing Morthal has already been done anyway.

Why would you terrorize a city that lost 90% of it's stronghold, and 90% of it's population?

You'd be terrorizing like, 6 or so angry nords, 2 guards, and the lady in front of the college. Woah, watch out for 'THAT' vampire lord. :toughninja:

This is actually a neat idea for any character... I can't believe I never thought of it.

The list on UESP of locations with safe storage is pretty big, there's enough choice to pick some cool strategic locations for outposts and hideouts.

I can think of loads of awesome reasons for having secret batcaves dotted around Skyrim that aren't regular player houses.
Thanks OP, this is gonna be my next mission ingame.

Why would you need lair? Dawnguard offers a new player house to serve as lair.

Unless you don't like the new house offered of course.

I know where you're talking about, I can't exactly remember where it is, but it's very good.

Isn't that near the "lucky" fisherman with his cabin flattened by a tree?

Exactly, why would I want a lair that will despawn my gear when I can have Castle Volkihar! According to Todd Howard you can make this castle yours and customize it.
