Finished Honest Hearts... bravo!

Didn't think all that much of the Zion gameworld- like most of Dead Money, it was roughly done, with lots of flat, sharp, polygonal edges everywhere, not smooth and artistically finished terrain like in the main game. Everything about the scenery seemed haphazard and half-finished. Enemies were ok, nothing special. Some nice new weapons and armors, moreso than DM. Really like the Survivalist's Rifle.

But what sticks out in my mind after finishing it, and what I liked the most about this DLC, was the background story. Not the main questline, which was standard fare- but the story of the Survivalist. It was served up in short, disjointed snippets, sometimes out of order and time, depending on how you discovered them. But his memos to himself, when pieced together, keenly painted a moving and poignant canvas of the man's sad, lonely and tragic vigil in the wilderness, since the Big Sunset.

When I found him at last, and read his last notes, I took the bottle of whiskey from his duffel bag, sat next to him there in the rocks for a while, and poured us both a toast to the red sunset. Then I took his rifle, loaded it, snapped a round into the chamber, and proceeded to grimly blow away every Whiteleg in southern Utah.

Nobody was gonna mess with his 'kids', if I had any say in it.

This excellent piece of story telling is what I would like to see more of in games. Thanks.
