Fire contradict Frost?

Does fire damage "melt' frost damage? Does frost damage "cool" fire damage?

Is it a mistake to put fire and frost damage on the same sword?

Also, would it be a mistake to use a fire enchanted item in one hand and a frost enchanted item in the other?

... I like to dual wield war axes, but have not gotten to the point of double enchantment.

No they shouldn't cancel each other out, and it's perfectly fine to have one frost and one fire weapon as neither cancel each other out and both effects will apply.

If you are asking if they cancel each other out, then no. The enemy's resistance determines that.
