My First Cat-errr, Khajit! A question of Paws...

Post » Tue Jun 12, 2012 12:04 pm

So being rather bored with Skyrim after a good near 200 hours of play on an Imperial mage, I wanted to start something interesting, a character that would keep me entertained. So i decided to go Beast, and Female... which is a rarity in my usual gaming!

I modeled the colors and fur after my house cat, and named her for her as well, Mary Jane Quickclaw! Heavy Armor, little to no magic, and a complete b***h!!!

The funnest part about the Khajit so far, is that i have yet to equip a weapon. At lvl 1, with the lady stone to slow down XP, her claws can kill in 1 to 2 hits!!! and thats on Expert!! The descriptino of the claw ability shows that it does 15 damage. I was wondering if this changes or will i be forced to eventually switch to weapons???

Claws are way cool haha

You may eventually feel forced to switch to weapons but theres a heavy armour perk that can help and also
Spoiler
a visit to the Ratway in Riften can net you a magic item that could help
. Just think of the perks you'll save if you stick to unarmed all the way.

Mary Jane Quickclaw!

No matter how many times I read her name, it doesn't cease to be awesome. That's one cool cat.

On the topic, you should get the http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Gloves_of_the_Pugilist_(Skyrim). The unarmed bonus stacks with your claw bonus, so that's 25 unarmed damage.

Lol, thanks for the responses guys! Good to know they didnt completely knock unarmed outta the game. Its hidden in there somewhere! :) I think this is gonna be the most fun i've had in skyrim, nothing like getting in peoples faces and cat-fighting them to death.

I had a stealth mage already though, so this kitty's gonna be an in your face, heavy armored ball of fur and claws! rawr!

I have resisted the urge to play a beast race since morrowind. Worth the wait :)

i love the unarmed kill cams, have yet to try this build, but i could definitely see it being very fun..
gotta wonder if it will still be viable come level 40 though.

Well i've been looking at my Prima and from what it tells me "Claws" multiplies unarmed damage by four and the Fists of steel perk adds the base armor value of your gauntlets as damage to unarmored attacks.
*Spoiler, I'm going to do math.*
4x18(Base armor value for Daedric gauntlets)=72 damage per hit, which in perspective isnt terrible but it's far for being viable without extreme frustration in later levels (go on, punch an Elder Dragon to death, I dare you).

What would be amazing is if it added the gauntlets armor value to added damage instead of its base. After some smithing (double effectiveness) and heavy armor value perks (double effectiveness again) you'd be looking at...
18x2x2x4=288 damage, now that's cool.

But if I was to continue dawn this road and lead to a build recommendation I would say do a Khajit monk: Alteration, Illusion, Destruction, Archery, just to name a few, and when things get close and personally bust out them claws! What would be better is if you could poison your claws, but like everyone else I'm praying Todd will give us Unarmed again come DLC. I mean, how can her not with all of us pleading for it?
