Ok im off adventuring and just woke up in markarth after a nigth of drinking with a stranger. Well im just takign a walk and scoping out the land when i come across a place called Reachwater Rock, its right behind a waterfall. Only thing is, u get this bad vibe going in there and i read the letter and i read the book, i went ahead and opedned up the first door, saw i couldnt get past second doot atm so im like ok. As i was walking out, i see the pool of water, im like "i wonder whats down there?" Well its pretty deep and i dont really see anythign and its dark, so im swimming towards the surface and all of the sudden my charector sinks for a bit...almost like soemthigns grabbing him and pulling him down. I keep trying to swim upwards and gettign creeped out in the dark cave, im in the dark water, thats all cursed apperently...and it feels like soemthing keeps tryign to pull my toon down. I swim up a lil bit and then feel like im being pulled down..needless to say im freaking out like OMFG, and i finally see the lil cliff to swim up and right before i get there i get pulled down a ways to the bottom. I pop a underwater breathing potion and just spam the swim motion to the surface and hidetailed it outta there.

Weither it was a bug or whatnot, i really enjoyed it and was actually for the first time scared in this game lol. i was there at surface waiting for a bit to see if anythign would come out and then just booked it outta there. Weither bug or soemthign that actually scripted...i will think twice before goign swimming in bodys of water in cursed areas that i cant see the bottom of. lol in my mind i was thinking the cursed souls of the tomb was tryign to pull me down...it was awesome!

But is that normal or just a bug i had the priviledge to experience?

I love horror games,i like the idea of being scared, One of the feel things that can make me feel uneasy in games is when i have to dive into deep water, in wich i can't see very well so it adds to the felling of "What's down there?" For some reason it keeps me unseasy. If that happened to me, i think i would pause the game to take a break, and to let my heart beat at a normal rate.

Anyways, wouldn't it be awesome if there was actually a underwater creature in skyrim? Like a mermaid that pulls the ones they enchant with their voices down the sea, but much more vicious like the one Redneck described? I have a felling that if something like that existed i wouldn't try to swin into the ocean at all...

I'm not trying to dispel the belief in the supernatural, but could it have been currents caused by the waterfall? ...or were Slaughterfish nipping at you? I don't think they pull you downwards and you would've noticed your health bar popping up.

FWIW: I always wear a headpiece with Waterbreathing enchant on it just in case something like that happens. ...even on the Gold and Emerald Circlet my girl wears with her Tavern Clothes.

im not saying it was a supernatural, that what was goign thru my head after reading the notes and books left in the cave. Just u walk in, its creepy and u find out its a cursed place...then decide to go swimming in the very dark pool of water at base thats really deep and u cant se very much and then when u try to swim up, u go a bit then get pushed down a bit, go up a bit then pushed down a bit.

I can confirm this, just tested with my merchant wearing Volsung. you can swim around just fine, but when you're swimming up, sometimes something pulls you down.

OK, I'm gonna' have to check this place out. Again, I think, because I'm pretty sure I've been to at or near it at least.

Well, that explains a lot. There are probably at least three 'things' trying to pull you down.

I think its a glitch and there are pockets of air in there under the water. You can tell because you will be swimming and your character will suddenly make gasping noises like you just hit the surface but you are still underwater.

What happens is that you fall down in those areas.

There's actually an area near one of the towers in Japhet's Folly where you can literally swim in mid-air! It's pretty hilarious.

I'm afraid it's also a bug. I've had this countless times with my first (and still only) toon, in all kinds of water sources. I swim underwater, and suddenly I sink completely to the bottom, am able to freely swim ahead again, and sink again, rinse and repeat until you get back ashore. Kinda irritating in my case actually. Add to that the bug in which I can't easily exit the water when I enter it in sneak modus (my vision keeps on switching between right under and above the surface), and it becomes a frigging pain to swim with this character. Well, I've got a glass helmet of waterbreathing now, so I just roleplay it as underwater streams pulling me under. Although a water monster would be cool. ^^ Can still be damn annoying sometimes 'though.
