Fists of Randagulf

Anyone remember these? Not only do I think that these should have been in the game but where are all of the artifacts like these? Oblivion suffered from this too in that there aren't any unique or special armor or weapons other than daedric quest rewards. I miss finding unique stuff. Not the same stuff but with a new name or effect.

What? OB had a lot of unique gear. Fists of the Drunkard, Hands of Midnight, Boots of Bloody Bounding, etc

Its not the skyrim doesn't have unique gear (it does, quite alot more then Oblivion even)...its just it made the same mistake of tying nearly every piece of unique gear to a questline....unlike Morrowind's method of 'These object are somewhere in the world, have fun exploring and finding them'.

seriously, if you tie all the unique gear to questline what is the point to my random exploring? I might as well only do quests.

It think it has been done this as to not allow the player to get powerful gear too quickly, and be stuck on the level scaling idea of only getting what is appropriate for their level......and so that some cool item doesn't get overlooked by players that never do random exploring....why waste the time making it special if most aren't gonig to find it.

Did any of them have a unique appearance? Its been a while since I played OB or MW so I don't remember to much but sky rim definately doesn't have any unique gear. I still love this game far more than the other two but its missing stuff :-(

Adding more unique items scattered around the world without a quest tied to it would be preferable.

There's plenty of unique gear. Bloodthorn, Rundi's Dagger, Borvirs Dagger, Red Eagle's Bane, Gloves of the Pugilist, Gilded Wristguards, Helm of Yngol, Jester's Clothes, Notched Pickaxe and Angi's Bow just to name a few. Not to mention all of the Daedric Artifacts.

If you're exploring purely for unique items, then perhaps exploring isn't your sort of thing. IMO, exploring ought to be something you do for the enjoyment of it, the sense of fulfillment you get when finishing a dungeon and the amazing scenery you can find. Not 'I want to make character powerful'. Just my two Septims.

That said, there are unique items to be found, if you look for them. The Helm of Yngol, for example, and the almost-unique Dragon Priest Dagger. They just aren't always on pedestals at the end of dungeons.
