Flashlight Or Alternative

Post » Fri Mar 11, 2011 7:26 pm

I'm going to say this once and that's it...there better be an alternative to that joke of a pipboy light or it'll be fail simple as that.

Really? I found that there was enough ambient light that I didn't usually need the pip-boy flashlight.

Of course, when I did need it it failed hard.

By it, do you mean the game itself? Or what? A brighter pip boy light would be good. I don't think they should add flashlights when they have a perfectly good way of delivering a light source in the first place.

Yes I meant the game itself and its alternate light sources if this isn't remedied.

I'd like to see flashlights for both the player and the NPCs in future Fallout games. At least it'd make a bit of sense to have raiders who live in caves use flashlights for getting around. Adds a lot to the ambiance to see flashlight spots in the distance.

Their eyes are probably adjusted to the dark. They should only take out their flashlights if you're in the [CAUTION] phase.

Maybe they'll make it so we can (in game) buy upgrades for our lights... or have a pipboy option to have it focus the light into a beam er sumthin... or just buy a flashlight.

What about take it a step further, and be able to get one of those something-hundred watt maglights that are essentially an aluminum club with an overly-magnified bulb set into it. You could use it as a blunt weapon, and when you turned on the flashlight button while holding it, it instead lights the maglight.

Perhaps if it is dark enough, a blast of light straight to the eyes could disorient an enemy and throw off their aim.

I don't flashlights are really needed most of the action will take place above ground in Sunny Vegas Town.
there won't any more subways really And for the few situations where its dark it will provide a nice contrast if you want more light turn the brightness up.

if you are making a reference to the game, I didn't play it so I didn't get your joke. :P
A bit of "light" on the subject might be needed. ;)

You haven't played S.T.A.L.K.E.R.? And you call yourself a post-apocalypse game player, well, you didn't call yourself that, but still. You need to play S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Its an FPS/RPG hybrid, but it started out that way, so its much smoother than Fallout 3. There's no character advancement other than weapons, but there are quests and the like. Its a fantastic series, but it can be hard to warm up to. "Don't just stand there, I said -- Get out of here Stalker."

Heh, well I call myself a Fallout player, not a post-apocalypse game player. ;)
The game seems very interesting, when the price will drop down in Steam, or if they ever do a collection pack, I'm getting it for sure.

Its a great investment. I got the first for 2 bucks on sale on Steam, and then got a 20 buck loyalty discount for the third one (which chronologically comes after the first).

Oh, and if you play the first one, you'll soon get the 'Get out of here Stalker' thing. Over and over and over and over...

There's a plenty good light source in the form of a Pip-Boy now if they could perhaps improve the light that emits from it, I know it was pretty crappy but it could be solved with the light illuminating more surface area and actually being brighter.
