Several gameplay settings have been tweaked with the aim of making combat harsher. I really hate it when, after a few levels, it feels like everyone (including yourself) has a ridiculous amount of health.

For instance, a shotgun to the face should do -significant- damage, if your armor doesn't prevent it.
To this end, I've tweaked the following variables. For a starting point, I've set these to half of what they previously had. Suggestions are welcome.

The format below is: VARIABLE - DEFAULT/NEW

fAVDHealthEnduranceMult 20/10
fAVDHealthLevelMult 2.5/5
fAVDNPCHealthEnduranceMult 2.5/5
fAVDNPCHealthLevelMult 2.5/5
fMinDamMultiplier 0.01/0.2

The 'fMinDamMultiplier' controls how much damage leaks through a character's damage threshold. This still allows an effect, though the effect is now very much diminished.

MD5 Sums (0.1 initial release):
98d55a884942e312f72f3fab056db0fc *FNV-draeath-HarsherCombat.esp

fAVDHealthLevelMult 2.5/5
fAVDNPCHealthEnduranceMult 2.5/5
fAVDNPCHealthLevelMult 2.5/5

I hope the 5 at the end is .5 or this mod would defeat its purpose.....

Bah, brain failure. I can't even follow my own format.

Everything but fMinDamMultiplier was divided by half. That was divided by 1/4.

Thanks for pointing this out!

I've noticed the start of the game is quite easy. Once you start running into enemies with DT, however... you'll quickly note you either need more powerful weapons to succeed, or you need to start treating armor-piercing ammunition as if it were made from gold...

This applies to you, though. Strap on some metal armor and laugh at those silly bloatflies!

Note that this is -different- than the "New FPS" mod already released by someone else. Unless I'm horribly misinterpreting their description, they've made enemy-specific changes. I have only changed the global settings, so the changes are uniform.

Updated to 0.2.

Fixed the readme for 0.1 should you want that, it will stay available.

0.2 changes/additions from 0.1:
fMinDamMultiplier 0.2/0.1
fDeathForceForceMax 60/60
fDeathForceForceMin 20/0.1
fDeathForceRangedForceMax 40/40
fDeathForceRangedForceMin 20/0.1

The DeathForce settings are cosmetic only. They effect how wildly bodies fling when people die. All I did is drop the minimum to the floor, while still allowing the high maximums.

Can you maybe do a version where everything has around 1/4 or even 1/5 of current health values? I have no problems dying in 4-5 hits as long as when I shoot someone in the FACE with my 5.56 they DIE. :)

The game in vanilla format is nearly unplayable for me. Having to shoot someone with no armor with a full 30 round mag from my 9mm SMG makes me very angry. ><

Done. Check the files entry for ExtraHarsherCombat_002. Details have been added to the main file description.

It's completely standalone, and there should be no issues swapping between the two.

On that note, even the standard one is starting to make a difference. I'm playing on normal, and I've had several close calls.

Watch that DT! All's good till your armor wears down!

That works both ways. Damn radscorpions are almost impervious :P
