[Release] FNV Wacky Wasteland Sound Add-On

Post » Sun May 29, 2011 3:06 am

Hey guys! Just finished my third mod for New Vegas, which adds some ridiculously wacky commentary to normal actions in the game, like lock-picking, using drugs, picking up bottle caps, etc...

Video Preview - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b0U2mdvRWE8 and another one here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sg2GSr0V0b8

If you wanna preview all of the files in MP3 format, go here http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=41283#

Hope you guys dig it! Let me know what you think! :D

I have to admit, that's pretty funny.

On the flipside, the FO3/NV mod-userbase isnt exactly known for humour, considering they're all srs bsns about hardcode mods, gun mods, revamps, rebalancers, etc.

However, you have an interested mod user posting. If you can expand upon the commentary, make it go off a little less, and laugh-n-gag it up a bit more with more visual cues (like, say, zany stuff to find ingame), or have it go even stranger if using the Wild Wasteland perk, that'll be great :D

EDIT: Here's a tip: If you've played Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines, and plays Malkavian, you can totally take that line of zanyness :D (Lots of Lets Play videos of such playthroughs of the game on Youtube if you havent).

Rofl, the rigged computer voice-over is EXACTLY how I react every time I encounter one.

LOL, thanks for reminding me of VtM: Bloodlines. What a trip that was!
Having the different response options depending on your clan really upped the replayability of that game.
I've never seen more bizarre and non sequitur conversation options in a game then when playing a Malkavian.

I definitely have to give that a try, as I want to make a little more for a Part II. A lot of people are liking this silly mod, so, why not? :D

Thanks so much for all of your comments :D

Careful, if you lean on the fourth wall too much, you could break through it.

Don't worry, I usually tend to knock on the wall and make sure it's thick enough before I comment.

The humor was hit and miss for me, but your voice work was very good.

Yeah, the humor is really random and at times, just slightly immature, so I apologize if it wasn't your thing. I'm glad you dig the voice work, though! More mods need to have voice acting in them... which is why I'm having people on-board my ambitious Skyrim project.

For the heck of it, I put the mod up in an alternate format - http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=41283#

The only thing I didn't like (and which caused me to disable the mod) is that too many things trigger the "I started a quest" remark. Every time I killed something, actually I think every time I accrued XP, off went that same remark, and it got very old, quickly. If that only occurred when triggering a quest, then it would be good.

I think this is definitely humor, not humour. Feels very 'Ha ha I'm funny!'.

You can just delete that .wav file and the original sound will be safely in tact :)
