made a creature follower, it follows and is in my faction etc. just when i leave city won't follow.

Any suggestions?

What type of creature is it?
Check the race of the creature and de-select "Can't Open Doors"
Note that doing so will allow all creatures of that race to open doors. This behavior is unlike the previous construction sets, in that you could do this per actor/creature. You may want to create a new race for your companion.

my account lol just deleted me.... anyways already tried the open doors option, still didn't work! any other hints would be nice. thanks for your help. will try a new race in the meantime

Hmm i haven't had problem with creatures not opening doors as long as the cant open doors is not checked in the race, i have had both dragon and spriggan companion follow me out of the city. What factions/packages are you using for it >?
