Followers and EBONY BLADE QUEST - SPOILERS!

Post » Sun Jun 03, 2012 2:48 pm

(Im not sure if this is the right place to post this topic... if not, plz MODs erase it. LOL)

Yo guys! I just started the Ebony's Blade quest. Just talked to the Whispering Lady and now I gotta "feed" the sword with blood of those closest to my character. Well, most of my closest (or closer, sry, my english is a lil rusty lol) friends are essential characters and I cant kill followers (thank God, hehe). So... what is left? o_O And when we fill the blade to its full status, does the questline continues or you just keep an overpowering weapon (its a daedric artifact, right?)? Thanks for your advice! =)

And another question... Lydia, my follower when we become a thane for Whiterun had died!! T_T I cant understand... when a follower's HP reaches to "0" they just rest and wait for it to replenish again no matter if we or enemies keep hitting them. And for my surprise when we fought a Draugr Lord she died! =/ Can anyone explain this mechanism? Is there a way to resurrect? =( thx!

Followers die if they take too much damage while downed or you hit them, and if you're on PC you can use the console to resurrect them.

Followers only die if you attack them or there is a continued damage effect, such as poison, afflicted on them (seen by a green glow on their body.) Besides that, they're immortal.

As for the blade, it's optional. But you can kill up to 10 followers to improve it. Easiest is to recruit mercenaries stationed at inns across Skyrim and just kill them, or use a Dead Thrall and keep resurrecting it (via magic spells, rather than console.)

Thanks Muramasa89. So its optional huh? So this means that the blade will only get stronger and there is no more questline on it right?

The Ebony Blade was the last item that I got for the "Oblivion Walker" achievement, and it was unlocked as soon as I picked the blade up in Dragonsreach.

Yes. End of questline, and it will count as having the artifact if you're looking to complete the Oblivion Walker achievement even if you don't "feed" it.

EDIT: Ninja'd above me.

I have a sort of related question; if I fully power it up, will it finally stay in the weapon rack? Getting a bit tired of picking it up off the floor.

Thats funny. You are asking the right person. Very very right.

Muramasa Sengo was a famous swordsmith who founded the Muramasa school and lived during the Muromachi period (16th century) in Japan. Oscar Ratti and Adele Westbrook said that Muramasa "was a most skillful smith but a violent and ill-balanced mind verging on madness, that was supposed to have passed into his blades....They were popularly believed to hunger for blood and to impel their warrior to commit murder or suicide."

It has also been told that once drawn, a Muramasa blade has to draw blood before it can be returned to its scabbard, even to the point of forcing its wielder to wound himself or commit suicide. Thus, it is thought of as a demonic cursed blade that creates bloodlust in those who wield it.

You don't have to kill followers. You can kill anyone that you have completed a quest for that is not essential. NPC's with Misc. Objectives are the easiest. Another trick: kill them, dead thrall them, kill them again. You can get all 10 kills for the upgrade off of one single NPC. I did the Orc blacksmith in Markarth after bringing him a Daedra heart.

Ah finally somebody knows the meaning behind my username.
Everybody else brings up Naruto. D:

The Absorb Health effect is pretty useful. I use it a lot in TES games.
Also it is, as far as I'm aware, the only two-handed blade that is affected by the One-Handed skill tree. As in, whilst using this blade will train your Two-Handed skill, any perks you may have purchased in the One-Handed tree affect it rather than the Two-Handed tree. Also using an item that, say, gives a 20% damage increase to One-Handed, that also would affect it rather than one that has a Two-Handed damage increase.

Benefit look cool and very evil if you want to be evil in the thrown out of the dark brotherhood way because of cruelty way.

Absorb health is very nice as you both hurt the enemy and more important heal yourself.
However the only benefit of the ebony blade is that it does not use charges.
Weapon with absorb health is not uncommon and they will also benefit from smithing perks.
So if your smithing is high you want to use another weapon.

Also the base damage is low, you would probably be better off with an elven to daeric weapon with absorb health 20.
If your enchanting is high you make an weapon with absorb health and soultrap.
